IO Interactive is excited to announce that players will soon be able to carry their progress across all platforms in Hitman World of Assassination. This is thanks to a redesigned account system called the IOI Account, which has a new look and can be managed through a web browser or mobile app. The account system is available now, but the cross-progression feature will launch in the game on February 3rd.
We’ve always wanted players to be able to continue their progress in Hitman World of Assassination no matter what device they’re using, and this is especially important now that the game is available on over 10 different platforms. Starting February 3rd, your progress will carry over whether you switch between consoles and PC, play on multiple devices, or move to a new platform entirely.
Cross-progression lets you continue your game progress – including your level, challenges, unlocked items, achievements, Freelancer mode progress, and story campaign progress – across different platforms. To use it, you’ll need to connect your platform accounts to your IOI account. Once linked, you can choose one platform as your main profile, and your progress on other platforms will sync with it.
Your game progress will transfer between platforms, but purchases like the base game, downloadable content (DLC), and items unlocked with DLC won’t carry over. Also, once cross-progression is active, older saves made on accounts not designated as your primary account won’t be accessible. You’ll still be able to load those saves if you turn cross-progression off.
With the addition of cross-progression, IO Interactive is ending the ability to transfer progress from Hitman 2 to Hitman 3. The studio explained this is necessary to maintain data accuracy and avoid issues caused by the interaction of older and newer progression systems within Hitman World of Assassination.
IO Interactive has kept its popular game, Hitman World of Assassination, updated with new challenges, including special missions featuring Bruce Lee and Eminem. At the same time, they’ve been developing their next big project: 007: First Light. The new James Bond game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, and is scheduled to launch on May 27th.
Even though fans are excited for the upcoming game 007: First Light, IO Interactive also plans to continue making Hitman games. CEO Hakan Abrak emphasized that Hitman remains the studio’s main focus, and Bond is currently the only game they’re developing based on someone else’s established story.
We typically create our own original game franchises. ‘Bond’ is the only licensed property we’re currently developing, and it’s likely to remain the only one. After 25 years of experience with the spy genre and working on ‘007’, taking on ‘Bond’ felt like a natural fit. However, ‘Hitman’ has always been, and continues to be, our most important and beloved game throughout the history of IO Interactive.
