A recent report suggests the movie Man of Tomorrow will feature a fourth villain, and this one is a surprising choice because her motives aren’t clear-cut. The upcoming DC sequel will see former enemies Lex Luthor and Superman forced to work together against the powerful threat of Brainiac. Along with Lex and Superman, characters from the first movie – including Lois Lane, the Justice Gang, and the Daily Planet staff – are also returning. Now, another unpredictable DC villain has joined the cast.
According to Nexus Point News, the DC villain Maxima will appear in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow movie, making her the fourth villain in the film starring David Corenswet. While initially aligned with Brainiac, reports suggest Maxima will ultimately team up with the heroes.

Maxima is a powerful warrior queen from Almerac, a technologically advanced alien planet. Many fans consider her to be one of Superman’s biggest supporters and one of the strongest heroes in the DC Universe. She was created by Roger Stern and George Perez, and first appeared in Action Comics #645 in 1938.
Maxima possesses incredible powers, including super strength, speed, flight, and powerful mental abilities like telepathy and mind control. Because she has a strong admiration for Superman, this could cause problems with Lois Lane in future stories.
Nexus Point News reports that the upcoming Man of Tomorrow series might draw inspiration from the “Panic in the Sky” comic arc. This storyline involves the villain Brainiac controlling Maxima and forcing her to help him invade Earth, after he conquered her home planet, Almerac. Eventually, Maxima turns against Brainiac and joins the Justice League.
Earlier this month, industry insider Jeff Sneider reported that Wonder Woman would appear in the upcoming film Man of Tomorrow. However, James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has clarified that this information is incorrect. It now appears the role some believed to be Wonder Woman may actually be for the character Maxima. Man of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.
Every Other Confirmed Villain In Man of Tomorrow
Brainiac

Lars Eidinger will play Brainiac in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow movie. This marks a significant change for Superman films, as it’s the first time a villain from DC Comics other than Lex Luthor or General Zod will appear – a rule that’s been in place for over 50 years.
We don’t yet know exactly what Brainiac is planning in the next movie, but it likely involves conquering or even destroying Earth. That’s why Lex Luthor is forced to work with Superman – to stop Brainiac before his plan can succeed.
Lex Luthor

Even though Lex Luthor is currently working alongside Superman in Man of Tomorrow, he remains fundamentally a villain. It’s likely he has ulterior motives for this temporary alliance with the heroes.
After his reputation suffered following the events of Superman, Lex might be hoping this collaboration will reshape how the public sees him, perhaps even as a hero after Man of Tomorrow. This could be his only opportunity to rebuild his image and gain influence, potentially even aiming for a position of power in government.
Rick Flag Sr.

As a big fan of Peacemaker, I was totally blown away by the season finale! It cleverly introduced Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and it’s pretty clear he’s going to be a major player in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow project. I’m already excited to see how that plays out!
Now that Flag has completely accepted his role as a villain – especially after building Salvation as a prison for superpowered individuals – he’s a major unknown factor in the next movie. His actions are very unpredictable. There’s a possibility that Flag and Lex are secretly teaming up, and might even try to permanently trap Superman on Salvation as a surprise betrayal.
