Developer creature Studios has rolled out a fresh update for their realistic skateboarding simulation game, Session: Skate Sim. This latest update, accompanied by a trailer linked below, introduces several new elements, most notably a significant revamp of the game’s camera system.
The studio has significantly updated the camera functions, focusing on both its placement and adjustment speed. This upgrade results in a more effective in-game camera perspective, allowing players to easily spot approaching hindrances, thereby enabling them to plan their upcoming stunts and routes more effectively.
In their recent update, the developer mentioned that since the initial release, there have been some fundamental camera problems which have made it more challenging to consistently pull off tricks and create smooth sequences. The primary aim of this upgrade is to keep the player’s options and gameplay elements visible on-screen at all times while also enhancing visibility of upcoming obstacles so players can adjust accordingly.
In this update, the fundamental gameplay mechanics have been polished, notably activating the New Physical Animation feature permanently. This enhancement significantly improves the physics attributes of player characters, providing more accurate responses to player input regarding their skateboarder’s stance and actions.
In terms of performance, the update has taken away the ability to play the game “Session: Skate Sim” at 45, 90, and 120 frames per second (FPS). Now, players can only choose to run the game at either 30 or 60 FPS. It’s recommended that they opt for 60 FPS for the best gaming experience.
The update included a fresh, complimentary release of the New York Sewer map. Originally developed in partnership with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the map has undergone a transformation to eliminate all TMNT logos. Users who previously unlocked the Sewers map during the promotional event will now have access to both versions, including the one featuring TMNT branding.

Improved skate feel & fluidity
This project is essentially a collection of fundamental improvements, yet not all advantages are immediately evident in the gameplay at present. The majority of our work has been focused on strengthening the underlying code structure that will enable future adjustments to enhance both the feel and smoothness of the skater’s movements. This refinement will also improve the overall flow and resistance between the skater, board, and the game environment.
- The New Physical Animation update is ALWAYS on, it was previously off by default.
- We rebuilt the physics assets on the player characters – changing their posture and reaction to player inputs
- Flow & Friction pass #1 – The foundation to the future Flow update this Summer!
Other feel & fluidity bug fixes
- Fixed Goat Feet bug when skating fast
- Fixed Mongo Push Bug – causing the player to bail and bug when not completing a full push
Frame rate Updates
In the past, I’ve been a supporter of less-than-ideal frame rates in Session, which unfortunately resulted in significant inconsistencies in the gameplay, causing various bugs. By trimming down these settings, we aim to deliver a smoother and more uniform gaming experience.
