A notable Bitcoin transfer valued nearly $120 million was recently highlighted by Whale Alert, a widely used blockchain tracking service that tracks substantial cryptocurrency transfers and disseminates information about them on its website and Twitter account (@whale_alert).

Today’s Bitcoin transactions conform to a 1.9% rise in its price. As I write this, the most valuable cryptocurrency globally, measured by market capitalization, is being traded at approximately $106,690 per unit.

Previously mentioned, the cryptic data provider spotted a transfer of 1,111 Bitcoins valued at approximately $117,797,259 moving from one unidentified blockchain wallet to another.

The crypto community responded positively, filling the tweet with encouraging and upbeat comments about the reported transfer of a large amount of cryptocurrency. Some analysts speculate that the transaction was carried out by Metaplanet, the Bitcoin treasury firm, as they announced today’s purchase of 1,112 more Bitcoins. Now, Metaplanet has achieved its annual target ahead of schedule.

Metaplanet holdings reach 10,000 BTC ahead of plan

The Japanese firm, Metaplanet, which has been mimicking Bitcoin strategies from Strategy, declared the purchase of 1,112 Bitcoins today, marking another addition to its cryptocurrency holdings.

In approximately $117.2 million, the company purchased Bitcoins at an average price of around $105,435 each. Moreover, this year so far, the company has earned a Bitcoin return of 266.1%. Earlier today, the CEO of the company, Simon Gerovich, made this announcement.

Currently, Metaplanet owns approximately 10,000 Bitcoins that they’ve purchased for a grand total of $947 million, with each Bitcoin costing around $94,697. This amount exceeds the Bitcoin holdings of Coinbase Global, which currently holds 9,267 BTC.

This year, Metaplanet disclosed intentions to acquire 10,000 Bitcoins by year’s end and subsequently increase its cryptocurrency reserves to a total of 21,000 BTC by 2026. The ultimate goal of this strategy corresponds with the maximum limit of 21 million Bitcoins that can be mined.
