The franchise has evolved over the years with new shows like the recent Netflix hits, Masters of the Universe: Revelation and Masters of the Universe: Revolution, bringing the story to a new audience. However, after a poorly received movie starring Dolph Lundgren in 1987, the franchise hasn’t appeared in live-action films for a long time. The trailer gives fans a detailed look at Nicholas Galitzine playing Prince Adam, who will become He-Man, the hero of Eternia. This new version tells a different origin story: a young Adam is sent to Earth and forgets his connection to the powerful Sword of Grayskull.

The story begins with the hero as an adult, finally taking his rightful place and returning to his home planet to confront the evil Skeletor (Jared Leto). The first trailer shows the studio has invested a lot of money in the film, aiming for a huge summer hit with impressive visual effects and a grand scope that honors the original story.

There’s a Lot to Be Excited About the New Masters of the Universe Movie

Early looks at the new Masters of the Universe movie suggest Amazon MGM Studios is staying true to the original stories and characters. Along with stars Nicholas Galitzine and Jared Leto, the film will feature many beloved characters from the franchise.
