Street Fighter 6 – Alex Joins the Roster on March 17, Gets New Trailer Showcasing His Moves

Capcom revealed that Alex will join the Street Fighter 6 lineup on March 17th. A new trailer highlighting his moves and attacks has also been released. Notably, professional wrestler Kenny Omega from AEW performed the motion capture for Alex’s special moves.

The trailer reveals Alex fights using a variety of strikes and grappling techniques. His grappling is inspired by modern professional wrestling and martial arts like judo, featuring moves such as suplexes, DDTs, and powerful lariats. He also utilizes diving kicks and a fast dash that allows him to seamlessly flow into more intricate attacks.

Alex can use four different powerful attacks, called Super Arts, and which one he uses depends on how full his Super Art gauge is. His first-level Super Art, the Raging Spear, makes him quickly dash forward to attack. This move is protected from enemy attacks at the start and can even extend combos.

One of his special moves, the Sledgecross Hammer, is a powerful attack where he strikes opponents with a strong lariat. If the enemy is in the air, they’ll bounce off the wall. This move also briefly protects him from being hit by projectiles.

His second Level 2 Super Art, the Omega Wing Buster, is a tribute to Kenny Omega, the motion capture artist who helped create the character. The move starts with a knee strike, then finishes with a piledriver executed from an Electric Chair position – a combination pro-wrestling fans will recognize as Omega’s signature V-Trigger followed by his finishing move, the One-Winged Angel. To add a visual effect, Alex is accompanied by a small, single-wing shaped puff of smoke when he performs the attack. However, this move can only be used after successfully landing his OD Power Drop.

Alex’s ultimate Super Art, called The Final Prison, is unlocked at level 3. It’s a grappling sequence where he chokes out his opponents. The animation changes depending on the situation in the match – specifically, a different animation plays if the move results in a knockout.

Alex is a playable character included in the Year 3 Character Pass for Street Fighter 6. The reveal trailer showed off both of his outfits: Outfit 2 is inspired by his original appearance in Street Fighter 3, while Outfit 1 is designed to emphasize his intimidating “Dark Devil” persona, as described by Capcom.

This character is the fourth addition to the Year 3 pass, coming after Sagat and C. Viper. Ingrid will be the final character released in the pass, expected in late spring.
