Popular anime series like Dragon Ball and One Piece keep releasing new content, but not every manga published in Weekly Shonen Jump is guaranteed to last. We at egmr.ru have recently covered several cancellations, showing that even within popular shonen manga, series aren’t always safe. Sadly, there’s more news for manga fans: one of the most well-known sports anime just finished its run with the release of its final chapter at the end of January 2026.
Harukaze Mound is a manga about baseball, created by Togo Goto and Kento Matsuura. It first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump last June, after starting as a one-shot story in 2022. The series follows twin brothers, Nagiharu and Aokaze Kuzumiāa right- and left-handed pitching duoāthrough their high school baseball journey. After releasing its 30th and final chapter, the manga has concluded. While other anime and manga have explored baseball, Harukaze Mound offers a unique take on the classic sports story.
The Future of Harukaze Mound
Shonen Jump doesn’t usually explain why it cancels manga series, but you can often get a sense of which ones are in trouble. The magazine generally puts its most popular series at the beginning of each issue, and less popular ones towards the end. For example, the final chapter of Harukaze Mound appeared last, below series like Gonron Egg, The Mage Next Door, and Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call It Quits. The most popular series, like Witch Watch, Ichi The Witch, Sakamoto Days, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and Kagurabachi, are consistently placed at the front.
Artist Kento Matsuura thanked fans and promised to continue creating manga after the final chapter of Harukaze Mound was released in Japan, saying, āIāll keep drawing manga, believing in myself. Iāll be back. Thank you for everything.ā While Japanese fans can already read the ending, those following the series on Viz Media will have to wait a few days. This is a good opportunity to catch up on the entire story! Although an anime adaptation hasnāt been announced, thereās a chance Harukaze Mound could be revived as an animated movie, similar to how some other canceled series have gotten a second life. With a style similar to Blue Lock, this baseball manga could find a new audience on screen.
