Fans of romantic shows on Netflix have plenty to watch, but season four of Bridgerton is especially highly anticipated. The new episodes promise all the delightful drama, passionate romance, and heartwarming family moments viewers expect. However, some of the actors recently shared that filming those family scenes can be surprisingly chaotic and challenging!
Why Do Bridgerton Family Scenes Make The Cast Lose Their Minds?
Watching the three seasons of Bridgerton, it’s clear why the show has captured so many viewers. Beyond the steamy scenes, the series offers genuinely touching moments, compelling romances, witty writing, memorable characters, and fantastic performances, especially from the actress playing Queen Charlotte. Because of all this, you might assume everyone involved in the show feels as enthusiastic about it as its audience.
You know, even though everyone raves about Bridgerton and how much the actors love being part of it, actually making the show isn’t always a walk in the park. It’s a huge cast – eight Bridgerton siblings plus their mom, Violet – and getting everyone together for those big family scenes? Apparently, it’s a real challenge! I was reading an interview with Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, and Hannah Dodd over on IMDB, and Luke explained that…
I’m always struck by how each Bridgerton character gets a line right at the beginning of scenes, almost as a roll call. It immediately signals that these scenes are going to be quite lengthy – a real time commitment! What’s interesting is that when a character has a few lines, or even a proper little speech, it’s surprisingly easy to learn. But trying to squeeze your single line into a fast-moving scene with tons of dialogue? That’s when we end up with a lot of flubbed takes, honestly. It’s just so much harder to make your mark when you have so little to work with in those quick-fire exchanges.
Does anyone else remember how stressful the dinner scenes were on Blue Bloods, with the Reagan family always facing drama while trying to eat? Thankfully, Bridgerton family gatherings don’t usually revolve around meals, do they?
Did he really mean it takes a full 15 hours to film those family scenes? They usually happen in the Bridgerton’s main gathering room – where everyone starts their day before socializing with other families. While there’s a lot going on – people arriving, leaving, moving around, eating, drinking, playing music, and all the usual things – that still seems like an incredibly long time for just one scene!
Dodd explained that when an actor tries to awkwardly fit in their single line of dialogue, the set falls silent, and the actor realizes it’s their cue, often resulting in the funny outtakes Newton described. Jessie then chimed in:
I can often predict the moments in a script that will really captivate or shock the audience. I have a good sense of when things are going to get intense.
Season 4 of Bridgerton is almost here, and I’m really excited to see all the drama unfold! We only have a few days left until it’s released.
