Hytale, a new open-world sandbox RPG built with blocks and drawing inspiration from Minecraft, has had a very successful launch. It’s being created by the team behind the popular Hypixel server, who are well-known for their Minecraft modifications, and has been available in Early Access for just over a week.
While official numbers aren’t available yet, Hytale has clearly launched to huge excitement, as evidenced by its popularity on Twitch. This strong start has also sparked a vibrant modding community, with over 2,600 mods already available and a total of 7.8 million downloads on CurseForge.
Violet of VioletsWorkshop was one of the first people to create modifications for Hytale. On the game’s launch day, she released four popular mods: Violet’s Furnishings (furniture for your house), Violet’s Plushies (placeable stuffed animals), Violet’s Music Players (in-game music players), and Violet’s Wardrobe, which adds more clothing and cosmetic options.
That last creation really caught the eye of Hypixel Studios! Just over a week later, on Thursday, Violet shared the exciting news that she’s officially collaborating with the Hytale developers to design new in-game cosmetics. She announced on social media, “I’m very happy to be helping the @Hytale team with new cosmetics.”
Simon Collins-Laflamme, the founder of Hypixel and lead of Hytale, also shared the news: they’re partnering with Violet to create official cosmetic items for Hytale. Violet was one of the very first people to create modifications for the game, and now she’s joining the development team. Collins-Laflamme emphasized that this fulfills their commitment to bringing talent from the Hytale community onto the official team.
We’re excited to announce that Violet, a pioneering member of the Hytale modding community, is now officially joining our team to help create cosmetics for the game! This fulfills our commitment to bringing talented creators from within the Hytale community onto our team. Learn more: https://t.co/JY3qmOXP6G (January 22, 2026)
It’s great that Collins-Laflamme and the Hypixel team are looking to Hytale’s modding community for new hires. It makes sense, considering the studio was founded by people who themselves started as Minecraft modders and know how valuable and skilled those community members can be. Modders are frequently hired throughout the gaming industry, particularly by companies like Bethesda that create games with large and active modding scenes.
It’s great to see Hypixel plans to hire talented people from the Hytale community – which is already large and continues to grow quickly. A key goal for the developers is to build Hytale *with* its players, and bringing on skilled modders from the fanbase is a smart way to do that.
Violet has announced she’ll stop updating her Violet’s Wardrobe project, but her other projects will continue to receive updates and new content in the future.
I’m focusing on the cosmetics included with the main game now, so I won’t be adding any more features to my separate cosmetics mod beyond what’s currently available. But don’t worry, I’ll continue to update my other mods as usual!
Just to be clear, I’m not adding any of my mod’s cosmetic items directly into the main game. I’m simply shifting my focus to officially creating cosmetics with the development team. Thanks for understanding!
You can purchase access to the ongoing development version of Hytale for $19.99 on the official website. You can also support Violet, the creator, directly through her Ko-fi page.
