The series, Finding Her Edge, centers around a love triangle and culminates in Adriana making a choice by the end of its first season. The story follows the Russo sisters two years after their mother’s passing, as they struggle to maintain their family’s skating tradition. Mimi is a promising ice dancer, Elise is striving for Olympic success in figure skating, and Adriana previously competed in ice dancing but now focuses on supporting the family business.

Unfortunately, Elise suffers an injury, forcing Adriana to take the lead in securing funding through medals and sponsorships. This leads to unexpected partnerships: Adriana teams up with the rebellious Brayden Elliot, while her ex-boyfriend and former partner, Freddie O’Connell, pairs with her best friend, Riley. These changes create plenty of conflict and emotional turmoil for the characters in Finding Her Edge.

When Brayden and Adriana begin working as partners, their initial animosity unexpectedly transforms into attraction and possibly something more. Despite achieving third place in qualifiers – meaning they didn’t initially earn a spot at the World Championships – a surprising turn of events involving a doping scandal opens the door for them to compete after all. Now, as Brayden and Adriana head to Worlds alongside Riley and Freddie, everyone wonders which man will win Adriana’s heart in this contemporary romantic story.

Why Adriana Chooses Freddie Over Brayden In Finding Her Edge

Throughout the season, Adriana develops strong feelings for Brayden, and they clearly have a great connection, helping each other grow. That’s why it’s so unexpected when she ultimately chooses Freddie. Her decision really boils down to her lingering feelings for her first love, and her difficulty moving on.

Two years before the events of Finding Her Edge, Adriana’s father insisted she end both her skating partnership and romantic relationship with Freddie. While she reluctantly agreed to please him, Adriana didn’t feel it was her own decision. Because of this, she never fully processed the breakup and couldn’t move forward with Brayden.

Adriana is dealing with a lot – she recently lost her mother, her family is facing financial hardship, and she’s estranged from her sister. On top of that, she feels pressured to keep the family business afloat, which is a responsibility she didn’t ask for. Because of everything she’s going through, she’s looking for a partner who is reliable, dependable, and steady.

Throughout the show, Brayden really grows as a potential partner, but Adriana doesn’t seem to notice. She’s convinced Freddie is the one she’s been waiting for, though I personally don’t see it. It looks like Adriana needs to explore a relationship with Freddie before she’ll ever seriously consider Brayden.

How Brayden & Adriana Win The Gold Medal At Worlds

Brayden and Adriana barely qualified for the World Championships, so winning the gold medal wasn’t expected. Honestly, they wouldn’t have stood a chance with their old routine; they needed to improve to have any hope of winning.

The dance itself was lovely, but the performers didn’t quite seem to connect with the emotion of it. It felt a little like they were simply going through the motions, which isn’t surprising since the routine was originally created for someone else.

Adriana’s mom created the dance for her and Freddie. Their connection is very different from Adriana and Brayden’s – what Adriana and Freddie share is sweet and innocent, while Adriana and Brayden’s is more intense and romantic.

I was so relieved when they decided to create a completely new routine – it really suited them as a couple. You could just see how connected they were while they danced! The song and moves perfectly showed their amazing chemistry. It was clear the choreography was designed to highlight what they did best. They truly made the dance their own, and when they performed it flawlessly, they completely won over the judges at Worlds. It was incredible to watch!

How Will Saves His Family’s Home In Finding Her Edge

Throughout the show, Will faces a constant battle to save both the ice rink and his family home. He’s deeply in debt because he’s been focusing on letting his kids skate rather than running the rink as a business and attracting paying customers. Adding to their problems, they can’t find sponsors for their skaters, and their best hope, Elise, is injured early on.

In the end, Will has to make a major sacrifice to keep his family’s home. He sells his ice rink to Voltage, a rival company. Voltage will now manage the rink’s staff and customers, meaning Will will no longer be a coach. To make matters worse, the new owners plan to focus on ice dancing instead of the figure skating he loves.

Thankfully, Will’s job at Voltage provides him with enough financial security to comfortably own his home. Plus, Voltage supports his daughters’ involvement with the rink: Adriana continues to ice dance, and Elise works as a coach.

What’s Really Going On With Freddie & Brayden’s Parents

Freddie and Brayden discover they have more in common than they thought, especially after learning about each other’s families. Both boys grew up with parents who weren’t present and caused them emotional pain.

Freddie’s mother struggles with alcohol, and wasn’t emotionally or physically present during his childhood. This has led to a strained relationship, as he feels repeatedly let down. Similarly, Brayden’s family only seems to value him for his financial contributions and achievements – they’re not there for him otherwise.

It’s refreshing to see Finding Her Edge acknowledge how both characters’ pasts influence their present. TV often overlooks men’s emotional struggles, expecting them to be strong and silent. But this Netflix show allows Brayden and Freddie to be open about their feelings and vulnerabilities, and to receive support from those around them.

How Elise Moves Forward After Her Injury

Elise wasn’t known for her kindness even before she was injured, but the injury made her much worse, turning her cruel and hostile towards everyone. She was in pain and reacted by trying to inflict that same pain on others.

She repeatedly puts down her sister, Adriana, both directly to her and publicly in an interview. Her actions jeopardize potential sponsorships that could save the family rink and their home. She moves out and starts living with her boyfriend. To intentionally hurt Adriana, she even kisses Freddie at a public event.

By the end of the series, she’s had time to think about what she’s done and starts to make things right, especially with her sisters. Later on, we see she’s returned to the ice rink, but now as a coach, teaching a new generation of ice dancers.

How Finding Her Edge’s Season 1 Ending Sets Up Season 2

The ending of Finding Her Edge is surprising when Adriana picks Freddie instead of Brayden. Heartbroken, Brayden leaves the Worlds competition, planning to stop skating altogether. This forces Adriana to perform the final showcase by herself, but her sisters unexpectedly join her on the ice, showing their love and support.

Chamille surprised Adriana and Freddie by suggesting they dance together, explaining that Adriana didn’t have a partner. She also hinted she had something planned for Riley. They quickly found out what it was when they entered the dance studio and saw Riley practicing a routine with Brayden.

Season 2 of Finding Her Edge is shaping up to be a competitive one, especially with the partners changing. Both Adriana and Brayden are past champions, so everyone will be watching to see how they perform. We’ll also see Adriana struggle with jealousy as she reacts to Riley and Brayden’s partnership.
