Nintendo and Illumination Pictures just released a new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it reveals Yoshi will be in the film! Fans have been speculating for a while, and the trailer shows Mario and Luigi meeting Yoshi in the Sand Kingdom’s Inverted Pyramid. He’s not just a cameo either – Yoshi will have a significant part to play in the movie.
The trailer reveals even more exciting moments! Princess Peach isn’t just fighting Ninjis – she’s also going up against Birdo, a classic enemy from Super Mario Bros. 2. We also see Peach and Mario tackling a dangerous obstacle course, Luigi using the Frog Suit to defeat a Boss Bass, and Yoshi facing off against a huge dinosaur that fans will recognize from Super Mario Odyssey.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives in US cinemas on April 1st, and will be released internationally throughout the month. According to Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri, the movie is now in post-production, with the team currently refining the sound. Composer Brian Tyler is creating the score and will include music inspired by Super Mario Odyssey, utilizing a 70-piece orchestra to bring it to life.
The movie is already a huge hit and could potentially earn more than The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which made $1.361 billion in 2023. That film was the second highest-grossing of the year and the most successful movie ever based on a video game.
