It’s surprising to hear that Ubisoft is still working on Beyond Good and Evil 2, especially considering the cancellation of other games like Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. Ubisoft has now confirmed to Kotaku that development continues, and they have ambitious plans for the game.
We’re including Beyond Good and Evil as part of Creative House 4, which focuses on creating captivating fantasy worlds and stories. We’re still actively developing Beyond Good and Evil 2 as a key part of our plan to deliver exciting open-world adventure games.
While the game’s announcement back in 2008 and re-announcement at E3 2017 seemed promising, its development has been plagued by repeated delays and the loss of key creative leaders, including the original director, Michel Ancel. Ancel later explained that the issues weren’t due to one specific problem, but rather a combination of unresolved concerns among the management team, which he was also a part of.
Ubisoft last publicly stated in June 2024 that Beyond Good and Evil 2 was still being made. A job posting from November 2025 also suggested work continued, but it’s unclear how much progress has actually been made on the game.
On a brighter note, it seems like Ancel’s other famous game, Rayman, is gaining some traction. The Australian Certification Board recently rated Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition, and there’s talk of a remake for Rayman Legends. If that remake does well, a new Rayman 4 game might even be in the works, though it likely wouldn’t come out until 2030 at the earliest.
