The upcoming movie, The Batman Part II, is looking promising, and recent reports about who’s joining the cast could make it even more interesting. If the rumors are true, the film might bring a well-known, tragic story from Gotham City to life, and unexpectedly reunite a couple of actors that Marvel Studios previously didn’t use.
The first Batman film directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson came out in 2022, and the sequel, The Batman Part II, is currently planned for release in 2027. We’ve recently heard some casting news about the sequel that could be important, and it surprisingly links to characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Batman Part II Has Reportedly Cast Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson As Harvey & Gilda Dent
Sources say Sebastian Stan will be joining the cast of The Batman Part II, and he’s expected to play the villain Two-Face, also known as Harvey Dent. Plus, Scarlett Johansson is reportedly close to signing on to play Gilda Dent, Harvey’s wife, in the film.
Okay, so here’s the interesting thing: with both Dent brothers potentially appearing in The Batman Part II, it’s starting to look like we might see a storyline heavily influenced by the Long Halloween comic book. That story really digs into the Dent family’s history and the events leading up to Harvey becoming Two-Face, and it sounds like the filmmakers are setting that up here. It’s a smart move, as that arc provides a really compelling foundation for the sequel.
It would be a big deal to see Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson as a couple in a DC movie. Both actors are well-known for playing major superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and their characters actually had a romantic relationship in the original comics that Marvel never brought to the screen.
The Batman Part II’s Potential Romance Can Make Up For No Bucky/Black Widow In The MCU

Bucky Barnes and Black Widow have a long and complex history together. They first developed a romantic connection while training at the Red Room, and later rekindled their relationship after the Civil War storyline in the comics.
Although many fans expected Black Widow and Hawkeye to have a romance like Bucky and Natasha, Marvel decided to pair Black Widow with the Hulk instead. This relationship didn’t develop much before Black Widow’s death in Avengers: Endgame.
As a film fan, I’m really excited by the possibility of a darker romance between Harvey and Gilda Dent in The Batman Part II. It feels like director Matt Reeves could finally give Ben Stanfield and Florence Pugh the kind of heartbreaking love story they deserved, but never quite got with their roles in the Marvel universe. It’ll be so interesting to see if those rumors are true as we get closer to the movie’s 2027 release!
The Batman Part II is set to release in theaters on October 1st, 2027.
