The length of the movie Project Hail Mary has been announced, sparking discussion about how long movies should be. At a substantial runtime, it’s comparable in length to Christopher Nolan’s popular film Interstellar (his second-longest after Oppenheimer). Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller clearly needed a lot of time to adapt Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, written for the screen by Drew Goddard, but the movie’s length has received a varied response from those in the film industry.
