The action star is returning to the big screen with two exciting new trailers for his upcoming film. Set to release this week, the movie puts the actor back in his element as a man with a shadowy past who’s forced to go on the run with a young girl when dangerous people start pursuing them. Similar to many of Jason Statham’s previous films, Shelter casts him as a skilled protector who must use his talents when his past resurfaces. The movie has everything needed to be one of Statham’s best, featuring a strong cast including Bodhi Rae Breathnach (Hamnet), , (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest), (Blink Twice), and Daniel Mays (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). It’s directed by the filmmaker behind the action in Greenland and Angel Has Fallen.
The film Shelter is scheduled to hit theaters on January 30, 2026, distributed by Black Bear Pictures. Jason Statham’s co-star, Naomi Ackie, recently told MovieWeb she believes it will be a “classic.”
It’s a really different and enjoyable experience. I think the best way to describe it is that Jason Statham is fantastic at creating thrilling action movies that are incredibly entertaining, and it was a lot of fun to be involved. I had a great time on set – I was there for about a week, and it was a blast.

Everything we’ve seen of the movie Shelter suggests that director Waugh is delivering something special. It appears to be a darker, more complex thriller than typical Jason Statham action films, with richer characters, but still packed with the fast-paced action his fans love.

In addition to his upcoming film Shelter, Jason Statham has several other action projects in the works. He’ll star in Mutiny, directed by Jean-François Richet (director of Plane), scheduled for release on August 21, 2026. He’s also set to reprise his role in The Beekeeper 2 with director Timo Tjahjanto (known for Nobody 2 and The Shadow Strays), which is now slated for January 15, 2027. Finally, Statham will once again collaborate with director Guy Ritchie and actor Vinnie Jones for Viva La Madness, an action crime thriller and a partial sequel to their film Layer Cake that has been in development for a while.
