Despite releasing three big sequels to popular games this year, Capcom has still managed to generate excitement for Pragmata, a brand new game. While its lengthy development has played a role, more and more players are becoming intrigued by its unique concept and gameplay over the last year.
Combining hacking with shooting isn’t easy, so it took a lot of experimentation to get right. Director Cho Yonghee explained to GamesRadar that making these two gameplay elements work together was a major hurdle during development.
Our goal was to create a sense of balance, where players felt the pressure of coordinating Hugh’s fighting skills with Diana’s hacking, without one overshadowing the other. To do this, we made sure the two systems worked together seamlessly, creating a cohesive experience where both felt integral to the gameplay, rather than feeling like separate, unrelated activities.
Initial reactions have been positive, which is great. However, with Pragmata scheduled to release on April 24th, there’s still work to be done. The team is especially focused on ensuring the game runs smoothly, likely due to the performance issues that impacted Monster Hunter Wilds. They’re continuing to optimize the game to avoid similar problems.
It’s still uncertain if the game will run well on all systems, particularly the upcoming, less powerful Nintendo Switch 2. However, the PC version appears to be performing well, and the demo showcased impressive graphics thanks to its Path Tracing technology.
