Koei Tecmo announced that the release of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered has been pushed back from March 19th. While a new release date hasn’t been announced yet, the company says the delay will allow them to further refine and improve the game.
The company announced that Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered will be delayed from its original release date of March 19, 2026. They explained that, as the first remaster in the Dynasty Warriors series, they want to ensure the game meets fans’ expectations and are taking extra time to improve its quality. A new release date will be announced soon.
The remastered version of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition was revealed in September 2025 during a Sony State of Play presentation. A trailer showcased the original PlayStation 2 game alongside a preview of its updated graphics, designed to take advantage of today’s consoles and PCs.
As the name suggests, Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered includes everything from the original Dynasty Warriors 3 game, plus the Xtreme Legends expansion. This means players will have access to many more battles, characters, and weapons. Koei Tecmo has also confirmed that the game isn’t just getting a visual upgrade – the user interface and gameplay are being improved too.
Fans loved Dynasty Warriors 3 and its expansion, Xtreme Legends, when they first came out on PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Because many people still play these games on their original consoles, it was expected that Koei Tecmo would eventually release an updated version for modern systems.
A remastered version of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition was first teased in a video celebrating the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The video looked back at the entire series, starting with Dynasty Warriors 2 from 2000, which is often seen as the true beginning of the franchise because the original Dynasty Warriors game was very different from later installments.
The video hinted at a remastered version of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition by initially calling it simply Dynasty Warriors ?.
The most recent Dynasty Warriors game, Dynasty Warriors: Origin released last year, essentially restarted the series with a fresh beginning. It added new features like a dedicated parry system and a bodyguard squad, giving players more strategic choices during large-scale battles.
Koei Tecmo is creating the Visions of Four Heroes DLC for the game, adding a new twist to its 1 vs. 1000 battles. This DLC will also feature a new story where players team up with lesser-known but powerful characters like Zhang Jiao, Dong Zhuo, Yuan Shao, and Lu Bu.
The release date of DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Steam, previously set for 19th March, 2026, has been changed.
