Josh Hartnett and Tamsin Egerton are doing date night right—in the City of Love!
Four parents went to the Jacquemus menswear fashion show in Paris on January 25th, leaving their children at home.
The actor from Fight or Flight dressed smartly for the outing in a white shirt with a black and white striped tie, a black pinstriped jacket, and black pants with dress shoes. His wife looked beautiful in a long-sleeved red dress, accessorized with a bold gold necklace, black heels, and a black clutch.
Throughout the evening and while taking photos, Josh and Tamsin remained close, often holding hands. In many pictures, 47-year-old Josh had his arm around Tamsin’s waist, and she affectionately leaned against him when they were seated.
Okay, so Josh and Tamsin? Married since 2021, which, YES, I knew! But honestly, they’re SO private. They don’t really share much about their relationship with the public, which is frustrating because they’re seriously the cutest, and I just want to see them be happy together! It’s like they keep their whole romance a secret, and it drives me crazy!
This is the first time the couple—who have four children born in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2024, though their names are not public—have been spotted together since July 2024. They were last seen at events in London and New York City celebrating the premiere of his movie, Trap. Before that, they attended the Vanity Fair Oscar party in March 2024.
Josh has grown used to keeping a low profile. Although he’s starring in the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Verity with Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway, he moved away from Hollywood in the mid-2000s. He chose to live with his family in the English countryside to create a better separation between his personal and professional life.

He explained to People magazine in July 2024 that Hollywood isn’t just a location—it’s a way of life. He said that being surrounded by people who only talk about movies can become limiting, and that’s something he’s always avoided.
Josh said he prefers spending time with people who can help him relax and broaden his horizons, explaining, “That’s what makes life interesting to me.”

Despite generally keeping his personal life private, Josh occasionally shares snippets about his family. For example, he recently talked about his kids and their funny habit of teasing him while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in May.
My kids playfully tease me about being American since I’m the only one in the family who is. I jokingly said it feels like I’m a foreigner in my own home. My youngest even does a funny impression of me, turning around and saying, ‘I’m Daddy, I like pizza, and I’m not mowing the lawn!’ He thinks it’s the most American thing ever.
He continued with a funny story about his daughter explaining what it means to be English. She playfully told him, ‘You wouldn’t understand, Daddy, but in England we call the trunk of a car a ‘boot.’ He jokingly replied, ‘I’ve lived here longer than you have, I’m your father!’
Josh is among a growing number of celebrities choosing to trade the Hollywood lifestyle for more peaceful surroundings. If you’re curious about other stars who’ve sought privacy away from Los Angeles, read on to learn more.

After 19 seasons, The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended in 2022 following accusations of a negative and harmful workplace. These claims led to an internal investigation, the dismissal of several executives, and widespread public criticism.
Ellen made a comeback with her last standup comedy show, For Your Approval, which premiered on Netflix in September 2024. Before the show aired, she announced her plans to retire from Hollywood.
During her Ellen’s Last Stand…Up tour, the comedian told the audience, according to SFGate, that she’s retiring after her upcoming Netflix special. She stated, “This is the last time you’re going to see me.”
Ellen and Portia de Rossi have settled in the Cotswolds, and Ellen recently told Richard Bacon that they plan to stay there at least through November 2024, particularly after Donald Trump was reelected. She shared this information during a conversation with Bacon at the Everyman theater in Cheltenham in July 2025.
She raved about the English countryside, telling the BBC it was ‘absolutely beautiful’ and unlike anything she was used to. She especially loved the charming villages, towns, and architecture, noting it seemed to offer a more relaxed and simple way of life.
I absolutely adore living here! It’s just…better. Everything feels kinder – the animals are so well cared for, and everyone is genuinely polite. We moved last November, which wasn’t the best timing, but it was worth it – I finally got to experience snow! We’re really settled in now. Portia brought her horses with her, and I’ve got a little flock of chickens. We even had sheep for a short while, about two weeks, which was lovely.

Tyra Banks, host of America’s Next Top Model, decided to move to Australia partly to focus on her ice cream company, SMiZE and Dream. She explained on Today with Jenna & Friends that her business had been primarily supplying ice cream to places like airlines and cruise ships, and a large production facility for her recipes was located in Australia. She enjoyed her trips there and recognized Australia as a promising market. According to Tyra, the countries that consume the most ice cream are America, New Zealand, and Australia. She ultimately moved to Australia with her son, York (whose father is Erik Asla), and her boyfriend, Louis Bélanger-Martin, stating that Australia has been a wonderful experience for her and her family.

Eva Longoria, known for her role on Desperate Housewives, has moved away from Los Angeles and now splits her time between Mexico and Spain with her husband, José Bastón, and their son, Santiago. She explained to Marie Claire that while she lived in Los Angeles for most of her adult life, the city had changed, and the pandemic accelerated that shift. Issues like homelessness and taxes also contributed to her decision, though she doesn’t want to criticize California.
Longoria clarified to The View: Behind the Table podcast that her move wasn’t politically motivated, despite happening after the presidential election. It began with filming Land of Women in Spain, followed by Searching for Mexico, and continued because of work opportunities. She feels fortunate to be able to move freely, expressing concern for Americans who don’t have the same option.
Despite the move, Longoria remains busy with her acting career, recently appearing in Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by how people create fulfilling lives, and Richard Gere’s recent move is a perfect example! He and his wife, Alejandra Silva, who is from Galicia, Spain, are now making Madrid their home base after spending seven wonderful years there. It’s a beautiful decision for their family, especially their young sons, Alexander and James. Richard shared that his kids are already bilingual, and he’s excited for them to thrive in a Spanish-speaking environment. He also has an adult son, Homer, and it’s clear the whole family is incredibly happy with this new chapter. In a recent interview with Elle España, he said they’re happier than ever, and honestly, you can feel that momentum and joy radiating from them. It’s inspiring to see a family prioritizing happiness and embracing a new culture!

Singer Christina Milian and her family have officially made Paris their home. Married to French singer Matt Pokora for over seven years, the couple previously spent half the year traveling between the U.S. and France. They decided to fully relocate so their children—Violet (from a previous marriage), and sons Isaiah and Kenna—could attend school in France. Milian feels it’s a wonderful opportunity for them to learn the language and experience a new culture. She shared with TopMob that her kids are thriving in Paris, enjoying school and an active lifestyle. Milian balances her work schedule by working ahead of time, allowing her to enjoy a healthy and fulfilling life with her family.

Ugh, it’s been driving me crazy seeing all these rumors about why Lindsay left LA! Finally, she explained it, and honestly, it makes so much sense. She said in Bustle that her actual work always got lost because of the paparazzi and all the drama back then, and it really bothered her. She just wanted people to focus on her movies and projects, but the tabloids wouldn’t let up! That’s why she needed to get away, to just…disappear. She knew unless she completely removed herself from the gossip, no one would pay attention to what she was actually doing. It’s amazing, she moved all over – London, Dubai, even opening beach clubs in Greece – but it wasn’t just about a change of scenery. It was about reclaiming her life and her career, and finally getting the focus she deserved!
Lindsay Lohan once worried she might never find love, wondering if it would ever happen for her. She realized she needed to focus on herself before things could change, and that’s when opportunities started appearing – opportunities she truly wanted to embrace.
Eventually, she did find love with Bader Shammas, marrying him in 2022 and welcoming their son, Luai, in 2023.
Though they currently live in Dubai, Lindsay hasn’t left acting behind. She continues to star in films like Our Little Secret, Irish Wish, and Freakier Friday.

Josh decided to leave Hollywood after some careful thought. He explained to People magazine in July 2024 that Hollywood isn’t just a location, but a whole mindset. Being surrounded by people constantly focused on the film industry, he felt, would limit his life. He wanted something more diverse.
He shared that he’d always sought to be around people with varied interests, wanting experiences that would challenge him and broaden his perspective – what he called “the spice of life.”
So, along with his wife, Tamsin Egerton, and their four children, he moved to the Hampshire countryside in England. He told The Guardian in July 2024 that time flies with a large family, and while it might seem like less is happening on the surface, more of what truly matters is. Despite the move, Josh has remained active in his career, appearing in films like Verity, Fight or Flight, and Trap.

If you don’t follow Jesse on social media, you might be surprised to learn he no longer lives in Los Angeles. In a February 2025 interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, the A Real Pain star revealed he’s lived in Indiana for the past ten years, finding it a more comfortable and stable environment. Despite being an Oscar nominee, Jesse lives a relatively normal life with his wife, Anna Strout, and son, Banner. He explained that he avoids social media and doesn’t spend much time networking within the entertainment industry. With a teacher for a wife and a son who isn’t particularly interested in movies, Jesse feels removed from the constant pressures of assessing his status in Hollywood.

Eliza Dushku, known for roles in shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the movie Bring It On, announced in September 2024 that she’s now a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist and is continuing her education in the field of mental health.
She explained to Boston Magazine that she was able to change her life’s path to prioritize her own well-being, with the goal of then helping others heal. She felt it was important to share the positive changes she’d experienced – the peace and renewed passion she felt – because she now clearly understood her true calling and purpose.

The actress best known for playing in The Flintstones shared that she relocated to Ireland in January 2025 with her son, Clay. She’s currently working on becoming an Irish citizen because her grandparents were from Ireland. While she mentioned recent political events as a factor in her move, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to her home country in the future.
In a TikTok video, she shared how much she misses her children and friends, and many aspects of her life back home. She’s working on building a new life in this country, and they’ll think about returning to America when it’s safe and everyone there has equal rights.

I’m absolutely gutted! Evangeline Lily, my queen, just announced she’s stepping away from acting… indefinitely! Twenty years she’s given us, twenty years of amazing performances, and now she needs a break. It’s heartbreaking, honestly, but I totally get it. She deserves to do whatever makes her happy, even if that means leaving Hollywood. I’m going to miss seeing her on screen so much, but I wish her all the best!
In a June 2024 Instagram post, Evangeline shared how happy and at peace she feels while pursuing her life’s purpose. She expressed gratitude for her blessings and explained that while it can be daunting to choose a path different from traditional success – like prioritizing meaning over money and fame – embracing your true calling brings a deep sense of fulfillment instead of fear.
She’s not ruling out a return to Hollywood, saying, “I might go back someday, but right now, I’m happy where I am.”

I’ve been following Paul Wesley’s career closely, and it’s been fascinating to see his focus shift! While some might remember him from The Vampire Diaries or even his Netflix series V-Wars a few years back, he’s actually been dedicating his time to something incredibly important: tackling climate change. He’s not just talking about it, though – he’s working to improve the health of our planet’s soil, and it’s a really inspiring project.
Ian Somerhalder took a break from acting more than four years ago to focus on raising his children, developing his businesses, and getting his documentaries released. He told TopMob News in November 2023 that these films – Kiss the Ground (released in 2020) and its sequel, Common Ground – highlight the importance of regenerative farming. He shares two children with his wife, Nikki Reed.
Looking ahead, the actor said he envisions himself as a rancher focused on building lasting brands – including his bourbon and wellness company. He’s deeply committed to sustainable farming and healthy soil, principles he and his family practice. He explained this is his long-term goal, and it’s the reason he’s so passionate about these issues – it’s simply part of who he is and the life he’s building.

In a February 2021 episode of her podcast, Empty Inside, former iCarly star Jennette McCurdy revealed to guest Anna Faris that she quit acting a few years ago. She’s now pursuing writing and directing, alongside hosting the podcast.
Jennette recently shared that she regrets many of her past acting roles, detailing her feelings in her 2022 memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died. She admitted to feeling unfulfilled and even resentful of her career, describing the parts she played as cheesy and embarrassing. Having worked from age 13 to 21, she was already self-conscious about her work by age 15, feeling it wasn’t something her peers admired.
Despite her past experiences, she hasn’t ruled out returning to acting. She explained to TopMob News in October 2022 that writing her book helped her consider acting in a new light, free from the pressures she felt before. She believes she might be open to it again if she were to write a role specifically for herself.

It seemed like a pretty easy decision. The chance to marry Prince Harry, devote ourselves to causes we care about, and wear the Queen’s tiaras would make leaving Hollywood completely worthwhile.
Like Grace Kelly before her, Meghan Markle transitioned from a successful acting career – notably her role in the TV show Suits – to a life within the British Royal Family. After stepping down from their senior royal duties and moving to Montecito, California, Meghan is now returning to professional life. This includes a multi-year deal with Netflix, where she released the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan and will launch the lifestyle show With Love, Meghan in 2025. She’s also expanded her ventures with podcasts and her brand, As Ever.

After starring in over 40 films since she began her career with 1994’s The Mask, the actress really needed a rest when she finished filming Annie in 2014.
She told Gwyneth Paltrow that she realized she wanted a different lifestyle. After years of intense work and filmmaking, she felt burned out. She explained that making a movie demands total commitment – long hours every day for months – leaving no room for anything else in her life.
Cameron Diaz had many interests she wanted to pursue, including writing – she’d already had success with bestselling books like The Body Book and The Longevity Book – and starting a family with her husband, Benji Madden. While she told InStyle magazine in 2019 that she didn’t miss acting and was focused on wellness, it seems she might be open to returning for at least one more project.
Jamie Foxx explained that they had to really ask and plead with Cameron Diaz to star in the 2025 Netflix movie Back in Action. “We were on our knees, begging her to do just one more,” he told TopMob News. “We all love her and have been waiting for her to return, and this is going to be amazing.”

The actor stated firmly that he wouldn’t return to the show after completing his five years on Empire. When Extra asked Terrence Howard about his plans before the sixth and final season aired in 2019, he said he was finished with acting and no longer wanted to play roles.
Despite taking on a few projects here and there, the Academy Award nominee announced his retirement from acting again in 2022 while promoting his Peacock series, The Best Man: The Final Chapters. He explained to Entertainment Tonight that he felt he’d given his all as an actor and now wants to focus on watching and enjoying the work of new talent, rather than simply repeating past performances.
Even with the previous concerns, Howard has continued to act, appearing in shows like Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist and the Netflix film Shirley. He also has several new projects planned.

After his character, King Joffrey, died on the show in 2014, 21-year-old Jack Gleeson told Entertainment Weekly that he was leaving acting. He explained that, having started acting at age 8, he simply wasn’t enjoying it as much anymore.
Jack realized things had changed since his days as a child star. He explained that turning a hobby into a job alters your perspective. While he still enjoyed acting, he didn’t want to pursue it as a career. He said, ‘Before, it was just something fun to do with friends, but now it’s a potential job, and that changes things. It’s not that I dislike it, I just don’t want it to be my livelihood.’
After taking six years off, Jack returned to acting in 2020 with a role in the BBC series Out of Her Mind. Since then, he’s also been in films such as Rebecca’s Boyfriend and In the Land of Saints and Sinners, and TV shows like Safe Harbor and The Famous Five.

After landing the role in a virtual reading of Fast Times at Ridgemont High in September 2020, Jennifer Aniston married actor Kevin Kline in 1989. They decided to stagger their work schedules so they could both be available to care for their children, Owen and Greta, who is now a singer known as Frankie Cosmos, as Kline explained in an interview with Playboy.
He added that Phoebe has consistently prioritized staying home with her children whenever she was scheduled to work. While she briefly appeared in her friend Jennifer Jason Leigh’s 2001 film, The Anniversary Party, Cates mainly focuses on running her New York City store, Blue Tree.

During the peak of his success with movies like Ghostbusters and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, the actor paused his film career after the death of his wife from breast cancer in 1991. He wanted to dedicate his time to raising his children, Rachel and Mitchell.
Despite not appearing in a live-action movie since 1997 – he even turned down a small role in the 2016 Ghostbusters remake – Rick remains a beloved figure, as shown by the strong reaction to news of an assault he experienced while walking in New York City in 2020. Fortunately, fans will be happy to hear he’s returning to the screen in the upcoming Disney reboot Shrunk, alongside Josh Gad.

After I married fashion designer Adam Kimmel back in 2010, I started to think about what I really wanted from my career. I realized a huge part of acting often involves intimate scenes, and honestly, that wasn’t something I was eager to pursue. I told Vogue that it felt like playing with fire – and while my relationship was solid, I needed a truly amazing role to justify taking on something potentially uncomfortable. It had to be worth it, you know? There needed to be something incredible on the other side of that challenge.
After her son, Martin, joined his sister, Louisanna, in 2014, she firmly decided to step away from acting. She told Us Weekly in 2016 that she felt like an outsider in the movie industry and was now focused on being a mom. She explained she helps her husband, Kimmel, with his work and enjoys painting as a hobby, but her children are her main priority, which is why she stopped pursuing acting roles.

She’d built a solid career with roles in popular shows like Ally McBeal, Nip/Tuck, Arrested Development, and Scandal. After all that, the Australian actress started to feel like it was time for a change.
Turning 45, I started thinking about trying something completely new and challenging,” she shared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2018. “I had a good idea of what my acting career would look like for the next decade or two, so I decided to take a leap and start my own business instead.”
Her company, General Public, which creates art for everyone, was almost complete – she just needed to finish one final piece.
I spoke with Mitch Hurwitz, the creator of Arrested Development, and told him I was done with acting, so I wouldn’t be in a potential season five. He was very understanding and supportive, and we had a good talk. Surprisingly, he ended up writing me into five episodes anyway.

It’s understandable why, after winning three Oscars, an actor might consider retiring. Following his sixth Academy Award nomination for the 2017 film Phantom Thread, the actor announced through his representative that he was retiring from acting. The statement expressed his gratitude to everyone he’d worked with and to his audiences over the years, and clarified that this was a personal decision, with no further comments to be made.
Just as Daniel Day-Lewis had announced his retirement from acting, a new project drew him back in. In October 2024, Focus Features revealed he would star in Anemone, a film he co-wrote with his son, Ronan Day-Lewis, who will also be directing.

After becoming known for her role on Good Luck Charlie, she decided to focus on her education in 2018. She went on to earn both a master’s degree and a PhD from MIT, and she also attended Harvard Law School.
On top of everything else, Bridgit also started her own company, Northwood Space. It focuses on building ground stations that facilitate communication with satellites, and she became its CEO in February 2023.
