KILLER INN launches in Early Access on February 12

Square Enix and Tactic Studios announced that their multiplayer murder mystery game, KILLER INN, will be available on PC through Steam in Early Access starting February 12th.

Square Enix explained they’re releasing KILLER INN in Early Access to let players experience and contribute to the final stages of development. They believe real player feedback is essential for perfecting competitive online multiplayer games, and want players to see how their input directly shapes the game.

During the Early Access period, players will be able to purchase some items in the game, like a Premium Battle Pass for better rewards, different looks for weapons and characters, and cosmetic items. You’ll also be able to instantly unlock characters. Square Enix confirms that these purchases won’t give anyone an unfair advantage – they’re purely cosmetic and won’t affect gameplay.

Who is a wolf…?

Okay, so I’m super excited for this game! Basically, 24 of us are going to be playing a murder mystery for just one night. Some of us will secretly be ‘wolves,’ and the rest of us will be ‘lambs,’ trying to figure out who the wolves are. It sounds intense!

As a long-time observer, it’s always been clear to me that some folks pretend to be harmless, blending in with everyone else while secretly plotting something. They’re wolves in sheep’s clothing, just waiting for an opportunity. But honestly, I’m not too worried. There are way more good people out there, and that gives me hope. Numbers are on our side!

Expect confusion, distrust, and intense, violent conflicts. But despite all that, you’re guaranteed to experience incredible moments – for as long as you can.

Clues Will Lead You to the Truth

Every crime scene contains clues: hair, fingerprints, blood, clothing…

The clues are helping to identify the guilty person. As you find more clues, you’ll be able to figure out who did it.

The Rules

Winning is simple: eliminate the opposing team!

It’s a dangerous struggle between predators and prey. Will the sheer number of lambs be enough to save them, or will the hidden wolves, blending in with the flock, prove to be the stronger force?

However, the cleverest of lambs have another path to victory: escape.

Escaping the castle seems simple: just get the keys to the harbor gate and lift the anchors. Sounds easy enough, but can you really rely on your fellow workers?

Fight to Survive

Stop arguing and blaming others. Once you identify the enemy, it’s time to take action. If you’re powerful or resourceful, you’ll make it through. Otherwise, you’ll just become another victim.

Kill However You Like

An array of items are hidden in the castle:

  • Guns and melee weapons to give yourself a fighting chance.
  • Traps and poisons perfect for murder.
  • Armor and gas masks to protect oneself.

There’s no one sure-fire strategy. Your path to victory is shaped by your playstyle.

Focus Mode

Heighten your awareness and truly experience your environment. With Focus Mode, you can pinpoint crucial details like footprints, shell casings, broken glass, and even sounds coming from behind walls.

Immersive Voice Chat With 3D Audio

Need a private conversation? Find a room and shut the door. KILLER INN features 3D audio voice chat, meaning sound changes based on how far away and around other players you are. If you prefer not to use voice chat, you can still communicate with a variety of emotes and stickers.

Unique Characters, Endless Strategies

What kind of person do you want to be? You can become anyone you choose! Each role offers special abilities – you could be a stealthy operator, a brilliant detective, or a cunning thief. Use these skills to plan your approach and change the outcome.

Play Solo, or in a Duo, Trio, or Squad!

Play alone or with friends – the adventure is up to you! You can team up as a group of detectives or a pack of wolves. Stay connected with your teammates using voice chat, even if you’re far apart.
