2K Sports and Visual Concepts have just announced WWE 2K26, along with details about its different cover versions. They’ve revealed four editions: the Standard Edition ($69.99), the Attitude Era Edition ($99.99), the King of Kings Edition ($129.99), and the Monday Night War Edition ($149.99). The game will heavily feature the popular Attitude Era of WWE, generally considered to be from 1997 to early 2001.
The cover athlete for the standard version of the game hasn’t been announced yet. The Attitude Era Edition will include popular WWE stars from that period, like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, and Kane. The Monday Night War Edition will feature both WWE and WCW stars, including Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Bill Goldberg.
Recently, a series of short videos have shown wrestling manager Paul Heyman trying to convince Triple H to feature more members of his faction, The Vision, on magazine covers. This suggests that wrestlers like Bron Brekker might be considered for the cover of the next standard edition.
Even though 2K Sports has shown off different versions and cover art for the game, they haven’t confirmed many details yet. According to a report from Dealabs’ Billbil-kun, the game is expected to be released on March 13, 2026. The report also suggests that a version for the new Nintendo Switch 2 will launch at the same time as versions for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s still unclear whether the game will also be available on older consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Physical copies of the game are planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and the next Nintendo Switch. However, the Switch version will likely be released as a code inside the box, meaning players will receive a code to download the game. It’s currently unclear if this will be a standard eShop download code or a physical Game-Key Card.
You’ll likely be able to pre-order WWE 2K26 starting January 30th, and that’s when we’ll probably find out who’s on the cover of the standard version of the game.
Looking at who’s on the game cover usually gives us a good idea of the story mode’s focus in WWE 2K. Past versions have covered the careers of stars like Roman Reigns and Rey Mysterio. With so many Attitude Era wrestlers featured on recent covers, the next game will likely explore storylines from the late 90s and early 2000s – similar to what the game did with WWE 13.
