San Diego Studio and Sony haven’t shared much about MLB The Show 26 since its initial announcement last November, but they recently confirmed the game’s cover won’t feature any new players this year.
San Diego Studio announced that MLB The Show ’26 won’t have a new cover athlete this year. They shared this news on social media, and the way they worded the announcement has sparked a lot of discussion about what will be on the game’s cover instead.
Fans of the MLB The Show video game are wondering what the next version will focus on. Some think it might just show a stadium scene, while others believe the developers, San Diego Studio, might highlight someone involved in baseball who isn’t a player this time around.
A new report from Dealabs’ Billbill-kun suggests that Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees could be featured on the cover of MLB The Show 26. This wouldn’t be the first time – Judge was also on the cover of MLB The Show 18.
According to a new report, Sony and San Diego Studio are planning to release MLB The Show 26 on March 17th for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It’s currently unclear if the game will be available on a Nintendo Switch 2 or PC.
MLB The Show 26 will include the popular Road to the Show mode, now with expanded high school and college experiences. Players can also look forward to fresh content in the Weekend Classic and Diamond Quest modes within Diamond Dynasty. To build excitement, San Diego Studio released special packs allowing players to open packs from last year’s game, MLB The Show 25. The Franchise mode is also being enhanced with new storylines highlighting the history of African-American baseball players and the addition of a fourth season for the Negro Leagues.
PC gamers who’ve been waiting a long time may finally get their wish! Back in October, reports surfaced that San Diego Studio was considering bringing MLB The Show to the PC platform. A job posting for a Senior Graphics PC Programmer fueled these rumors, with the role focused on improving the game’s performance, adding new visual features, and optimizing it for PC-specific technologies from Nvidia and AMD.
Although not a definite announcement, the job posting indicated the work would be for a high-quality PC game, and it strongly hinted that the game was MLB The Show without actually saying so.
Our team is looking for an experienced Senior PC Graphics Programmer to help us make our top-quality PC game look and run its best. You’ll be in charge of building and improving the game’s graphics, making sure it performs well and looks great on different computer setups.
