Dragon Ball Confirms How Many Fights Goku Actually Won Over 40 Years

For decades, Goku from Dragon Ball has been considered one of the most powerful fighters in anime and manga. Now, the franchise has calculated exactly how many battles he’s won. Throughout the series, Goku constantly faces a variety of opponents, sparking endless debates among fans about strength and potential. However, the actual number of fights Goku wins within the show is surprisingly lower than many people expect.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the original Dragon Ball manga in Weekly Shonen Jump, fans voted for their favorite character, and Goku came out on top! The official Dragon Ball website shared some interesting facts to celebrate, revealing that Goku won a total of 76 fights throughout the entire series, with a noticeable dip in victories during the Android Saga.

Dragon Ball’s Goku Has Won Less Fights Than You Think

The official Dragon Ball website’s data shows Goku participated in 117 battles throughout the series. He won 76 of those fights, lost 16, and 25 ended without a clear winner. This gives him a win rate of 65%, which is surprisingly lower than many fans believe. Goku enjoys fighting even when he’s likely to lose, and the data suggests he’s experienced more losses and draws than people generally remember.

It’s surprising to realize that Goku actually lost every fight during the Android Saga. According to reports, his last victory before defeating Yakon in the Majin Buu arc was against Frieza on Planet Namek. Interestingly, the collaborative Kamehameha wave with Gohan against Cell isn’t considered a win for Goku. This means Goku went through a significant period of defeats, and many fans didn’t even pick up on it!

Does This Mean Goku Is a Loser?

Despite often losing battles, Goku isn’t a failure. Throughout the Dragon Ball series, he actually wins about 65% of his fights, meaning people tend to remember his victories more. This highlights what makes Goku such a popular main character: he loves to fight, and fans enjoy watching him push past his limits and improve. Losing is actually a key part of who he is, as he consistently gets stronger after each defeat.

As a huge Dragon Ball fan, I’m absolutely thrilled to share that Dragon Ball Super is coming back! They’ve officially announced they’re adapting the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc from the manga. We don’t have a release date for Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol just yet, but get this – they’ve confirmed Planet Eater Moro, a villain fans have been begging for, will finally appear! That means Goku’s in for another massive challenge – and either a huge win or a devastating loss is definitely on the horizon.
