Neon has just released the first look at I Love Boosters, the new film from writer and director Boots Riley. The movie follows a team of professional shoplifters targeting a ruthless fashion executive – with a twist, as they see their actions as a form of community service. The teaser trailer showcases the film’s talented cast, including Keke Palmer, Demi Moore, Alexa Demie, Naomi Ackie, and Will Poulter. Like Riley’s previous film, Sorry to Bother You, I Love Boosters appears to be visually striking and energetic.
The movie, I Love Boosters, centers around a group of thieves called the Velvet Gang, who target luxury fashion stores and then resell the stolen items. Things get complicated when a famous fashion icon, played by Demi Moore, makes it her mission to stop them, no matter what it takes. This short trailer effectively captures the film’s fast-paced, energetic vibe and showcases the talented cast.
The new film, I Love Boosters, will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 22, 2026. While Neon, the studio behind the film, has been secretive about the details, it’s been described as a sci-fi comedy. The first trailer doesn’t offer any clues to the comedy aspect, but given that director Boots Riley’s previous film, Sorry to Bother You, featured a surprising twist, audiences can anticipate something unexpected.
‘I Love Boosters’ Is the Long-Awaited Second Film From Boots Riley

The release date is quickly approaching – just two months away! – following the recent release of a first look trailer. We’ll get our first glimpse of audience reactions at the SXSW film festival in March, and the movie will be available to a wider audience only a week later.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting Boots Riley’s next film, and it’s finally coming! It’s been a while since his last feature – aside from the fantastic series I’m a Virgo in 2023, we haven’t seen a major project from him since 2018. His first movie, Sorry to Bother You, really blew me away with its bold story and shocking twist – it was so thought-provoking! It earned a fantastic 93% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, proving he’s a gifted storyteller with something important to say. I’m really hoping I Love Boosters lives up to the hype and makes the eight-year wait totally worthwhile.
