The notorious horror series Faces of Death, known for its shocking and graphic depictions of death, is making a comeback. The original film, presented as a pseudo-documentary, first appeared in 1978 and combined staged scenes with actual footage, deeply disturbing audiences. Though several sequels followed, the franchise has been quiet for decades. Now, a full remake is officially in the works.
Okay, so I’m really excited about the new Faces of Death remake! It was shot back in 2023, and it’s been a long wait, but we finally have a release date: April 10th. The cast is awesome – Barbie Ferreira, Dacre Montgomery, Aaron Holliday, Jermaine Fowler, Josie Totah, and even Charli XCX are all in it. It’s directed by Daniel Goldhaber, who I really liked from his movie How to Blow Up a Pipeline. He actually co-wrote this one with Isa Mazzei, and those two also worked together on the really cool cyber thriller Cam a few years back. I’ve been following this project for a while, and I can’t wait to finally see it!
The new trailer shows just how intense and shocking the reboot of Faces of Death will be. Staying true to what fans loved about the original, the trailer is filled with disturbing clips that give a preview of the gruesome scenes to come. Faces of Death has always been a series for strong stomachs, and this new installment looks to be no different. While the trailer doesn’t reveal much about the story, the movie’s description offers a fresh, modern twist. The new film centers around videos of people trying to recreate scenes from the original Faces of Death, and a moderator who has to decide if they are real or fabricated in a world where online content isn’t always trustworthy.
The logline for 2026’s Faces of Death reads:
A woman whose job is to review content on a website finds a collection of disturbing videos showing violent scenes from a movie.
How Extreme Will ‘Faces of Death’ Be?
The movie Faces of Death isn’t for everyone because it’s very graphic. It’s been a long time since a new Faces of Death film was released – before movies like Saw, Terrifier, and Hostel popularized extreme gore. While it likely won’t appeal to a broad audience, Faces of Death gives dedicated horror fans another intense and shocking film experience.
Previous films in the Faces of Death series have shown disturbing content, including animal attacks, disaster scenes, and even imagery referencing the Holocaust. Because of this, watching the film often feels like a challenge rather than a pleasant experience. However, these ‘forbidden footage’ movies weren’t intended for entertainment; they aimed to push viewers’ boundaries and see how much graphic content they could show while still drawing an audience. Despite receiving negative reviews, the original film reportedly earned $35 million worldwide, which is typical for many horror movies.

Although Faces of Death is scheduled to hit theaters on April 10th, it’s unclear how many cinemas will show it, and it will probably be a limited release. However, if the famously gruesome film series unexpectedly gains popularity online, it could become much more successful than anyone anticipates.
