Released in 2002, 28 Days Later is widely considered a landmark horror film, and it won’t be available on Netflix for much longer. And if you haven’t seen 28 Days Later, you need to watch it fast – it leaves on February 1st, so we only have a few days left to enjoy it on the platform!
Whether a movie becomes a classic isn’t decided right away—it takes time. Many films are initially popular with critics and audiences, but are soon forgotten. However, the continued appreciation for 28 Days Later proves it’s a genuinely great horror film.
While the film’s somewhat rough, early-2000s digital style isn’t beautiful, it effectively creates the intense, claustrophobic atmosphere director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland intended. It also significantly influenced later works like Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead, The Walking Dead series, and the Left 4 Dead video game.
28 Days Later Is Still A Horror Classic
Beyond its story, 28 Days Later helped launch the career of Cillian Murphy. While zombie movies have become common since its release, the film still feels energetic and exciting today.
