Everyone is eagerly awaiting Avengers: Doomsday, and Marvel is already building excitement with teasers and a full trailer planned for the Super Bowl. To further generate buzz, Marvel will release a new Secret Wars expansion before Doomsday comes out. This timing is ideal, as Secret Wars will be the next major movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Secret Wars expansion is the latest addition to the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game. It throws you and your friends into the heart of Battleworld, a chaotic realm ruled by Doctor Doom. You’ll explore a variety of dangerous locations, like the futuristic streets of 2099, the eerie Deadlands, and a radiation-soaked Greenland, adding a fresh and exciting twist to your role-playing game.
The Secret Wars expansion adds 256 pages of new material to the game. This includes character sheets, locations to play on Battleworld, and deeper looks at the Fantastic Four, the Negative Zone, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and other cosmic Marvel heroes. It also introduces new rules for challenging powerful, high-level characters (Rank X).

The Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game lets you and your friends play as your favorite Marvel heroes – or even create brand new ones to fight alongside them! All you need to begin is the main rulebook and three standard dice, but the game now includes a lot more than just that original set.
Since its release, the game has expanded with content based on the Avengers and Spider-Verse. The Avengers expansion lets players create iconic heroes and villains, and even craft famous items like Captain America’s shield and Thor’s hammer, plus build Avengers Tower as a base. The Spider-Verse expansion introduces new gameplay rules centered around symbiotes, clones, and characters like Carnage and Spider-Ham.
The biggest addition is the X-Men Expansion, letting you build more diverse characters with new traits, tags, powers, and team profiles for groups like X-Force, the New Mutants, and the Marauders. You can also experience the Deadpool One-Shot adventure, where you can play as Deadpool and his crew or use your existing characters, and explore the The Cataclysm of Kang campaign expansion.
With the Marvel Universe constantly growing, now is a great time to get prepared for upcoming movies like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Secret Wars is a particularly good place to start, as it will set the stage for everything to come.
The Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game expansion, Secret Wars, comes out on August 18th. Avengers: Doomsday will be in theaters December 18th, and Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
