Intergalactic – Actor Tony Dalton Says the Project is “Like Nothing I’ve Ever Done in My Life”

Okay, so Naughty Dog is already a super respected game studio – everyone knows their games are amazing. But they’ve been getting even more attention since HBO made The Last of Us into a show. I was really excited to hear that Tony Dalton – you might know him from Better Call Saul or some Marvel stuff – is going to be in their next game, Intergalactic! It’s cool to see actors from those shows crossing over into gaming.

Dalton recently told Culture Wave Media about how his work with director Neil Druckmann on the TV show The Last of Us – where he played Joel’s father – led to a new opportunity. Druckmann was impressed with Dalton’s performance and wanted to work with him again, which ultimately led to Dalton landing a role in the game Intergalactic. This will be Dalton’s first time appearing in a video game.

Dalton described the experience as completely new for him, explaining that it involved cutting-edge technology to accurately recreate his appearance and movements using special motion capture suits.

Dalton described the experience as completely new to him, calling it ‘crazy.’ He was impressed by the professionalism of the team and the elaborate setup, which included full-body, dotted suits worn by everyone, even on their faces. He emphasized just how massive and amazing the entire set was.

It’s currently unclear what role Dalton will play in Intergalactic, but he revealed in an interview that the pitch described his character as a lead. He also praised working with Neil Druckmann, calling him “the sweetest guy in the world” and saying he’s “great” to work with.

I heard Troy Baker talk about working with Neil Druckmann before, and it’s pretty cool – they clash sometimes, but it’s because they both care so much about making the game the best it can be. It’s that kind of passion that really makes a project shine, you know?

Baker explained that he and Neil often playfully disagree, saying, “It’s just how we are.” He described a recent incident during a table read where they were arguing, and others felt uncomfortable, comparing it to witnessing their parents fight. Baker quickly reassured everyone that they were okay and that this kind of playful conflict was normal for them.

We haven’t heard much about Intergalactic since it was first announced in 2024. However, Neil Druckmann has said it’s the studio’s most ambitious project to date.

We’re fully engaged in development and gameplay is coming along great – everything is running smoothly. I’ve said it before, but I truly believe this is our most ambitious and expansive game yet, and it’s likely to be our most costly by the time it’s completed.

The studio has been relatively quiet recently, but there are signs the project is running late. According to reports, developers have been working eight extra hours a week since October to make up for missed deadlines and get the project back on schedule.

New reports suggest Naughty Dog is planning to release Intergalactic on the PlayStation 5 around the middle of 2027.
