It was a really sad week on the cobbles – we all said goodbye to Billy Mayhew. The atmosphere in Weatherfield was incredibly tense as everyone mourned his loss. It’s hard to believe he’s gone, and it definitely felt like a heavy moment for the whole street.
After eleven years playing his role on the ITV soap, Brocklebank’s time on the show ended earlier this month with a special crossover episode featuring Emmerdale.
Billy caused a multi-vehicle accident while driving a minibus home after attending Debbie Webster’s wedding.
As Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) tried to flee, he fastened his seatbelt and started the car, despite his abusive behavior.

He felt deeply guilty about what he had done, and openly admitted his regret while speaking at Billy’s funeral.
Little did Theo realise, someone was listening from the next room – Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard)!
Scheming Carl was clearly planning to use this information to his advantage, but in which way?
Today’s episodes center around the residents saying goodbye to Billy. Just as the funeral procession was starting from Shuttleworth’s, Carl found Theo and shared what he’d been listening to.

A stunned Theo had no way to retaliate, and was forced to walk off.
At the ceremony, Bishop Greg Townsend (played by Roger Bingham) asked Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) to give the eulogy. Saying goodbye to his best friend – and the only one who knew about the abuse he’d been experiencing from Theo – overwhelmed him, and he began to cry.
Theo offered to give his own words, but in doing so, attempted to pass his guilt over to Todd.

At the Chariot Square Hotel, Ryan Connor was suddenly confronted by three robbers wearing masks. They threatened him with a hammer and demanded he open the safe.
The robbers forced him to the bar, where he gave them all the money from the cash register, right as Carl ran into the lobby. A struggle broke out, and the burglars ran away, but there was one more surprise to come.
Following Billy’s funeral, Theo saw Carl talking to the robbers in the alleyway next to the salon. He quickly took a photo of them, then went to challenge his new competitor.

Theo believed Carl was selling drugs and used a photo to try and blackmail him, thinking he now had control of the situation. However, Carl refused to be intimidated, and defiantly stated that even in death, Billy would not approve of Theo’s behavior.
Theo decided to play dirty, and said if he told Todd, he’d end up in a box just like Billy.
Carl seemed somewhat unnerved after the encounter. Is he now regretting his involvement?
