Coronation Street villain return revealed for character who exited ITV soap mere months ago

Lou Michaelis will be back on Coronation Street soon, just a few months after leaving the show following a dramatic storyline.

Farrel Hegarty, who plays Lou, first appeared on the soap opera with her husband, Mick Michaelis, played by Joe Layton, in February of last year.

The new characters arrived as troublesome neighbors for Chesney and Gemma, and their storyline took the soap opera’s action outside of its usual location for the very first time.

Despite appearing on screen for only a few months, these characters had already departed the show by July of that year.

The last time viewers saw Hegarty’s character, she was being sent to prison for four years. This followed her guilty plea for assaulting Gary Windass, which left him in a coma.

In her last moments, Lou asked foster carer Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) to look after her children, and specifically requested that they not visit her often, or at all.

I don’t want them to associate this place with me, or for it to become a regular part of how they remember me. I’d rather this location stay separate from their memories of me.

Mick and Lou joined the show to stir up trouble leading into a big summer storyline, and they’re already causing drama.

Joe and Farrell were hired for a set period, while some characters stay on the show for a long time. Others, like Mick and Lou, appear briefly and cause trouble before leaving.

Lou is set to return to television, and Farrel Hegarty has reportedly already filmed her comeback scenes, according to The Sun.

It’s unclear how this will be possible, as the character is still scheduled to be in prison for another three and a half years.

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
