After nearly three years of anticipation, the BBC has announced the premiere date for its four-episode series based on ‘Lord of the Flies,’ and released a new trailer.
The new series launches on BBC iPlayer at 6am on Sunday, February 8th. You can also watch episodes weekly on BBC One, starting that same night at 9pm.
This new series is created by Jack Thorne, who also co-created ‘Adolescence,’ and directed by Marc Munden, known for ‘Help.’ It will star a large group of over 30 young actors, with many of them appearing on screen for the very first time.
The recently released trailer gives us a first look at the actors playing the main characters: Winston Sawyers as Ralph, Lox Pratt as Jack, David McKenna as Piggy, and Ike Talbut as Simon.

The trailer features a haunting musical score created by a talented team. Cristobal Tapia de Veer, known for his work on The White Lotus, composed the score, and Hans Zimmer (Dune) and Kara Talve (The Tattooist of Auschwitz) of Bleeding Fingers Music crafted the show’s main theme and contributed additional music.
The series, inspired by William Golding’s novel, follows a group of schoolboys who find themselves alone on a tropical island after their plane crashes. With no adults to guide them, they must fend for themselves.
To maintain order and avoid conflict, the boys establish a system with Ralph as their leader and the intelligent Piggy as a key advisor, according to the story’s summary.
However, as Jack prioritizes hunting and tries to take charge, he starts to attract other boys, leading the group away from optimism and toward disaster.
