I’m getting so hyped for the Supergirl movie coming out in about five months! It’s the second film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, and so far, it’s looking really great. We’re finally going to get a proper introduction to characters like Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills and David Krumholtz as Zor-El. We loved seeing Milly Alcock as Kara in the first film, and we’re going to see so much more of her this time! But honestly, everyone is buzzing about another new character and thinks the casting is absolutely perfect.
Jason Momoa is set to play Lobo, the alien bounty hunter known for his distinctive, almost spray-painted appearance. Momoa seems thrilled about the role, and in an interview with ScreenRant about his upcoming film with Dave Bautista, The Wrecking Crew, he expressed hope that he’ll be able to continue playing Lobo in future projects.
What Did Momoa Have to Say on the Matter?

Jason Momoa explained the shift between Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe and James Gunn’s DC Universe, especially considering his transition from Aquaman to Lobo. He described the two universes as very different, partly because the characters themselves are different. He recalled starting with a small role in Batman v Superman that grew with Justice League.
Everyone knows Zack Snyder had a detailed plan for the future of the DC Extended Universe, starting with Justice League. Jason Momoa isn’t sure if the new DC Universe has the same kind of long-term vision. He says Snyder “had it all very mapped out,” but regarding the DCU, “I only know Lobo’s in this one, and we’ll see what happens next. I’d love to see Lobo get his own project eventually.”
Regarding a potential solo Lobo movie, it’s uncertain. It likely depends on audience reaction, but James Gunn has his own plans that I’m not aware of. Both James and Zack Snyder are fantastic world-building directors, and their contributions are equally impressive.
Everyone agrees Jason Momoa was perfect as Aquaman, and the role proved incredibly successful. He stood out in Justice League, the first Aquaman film grossed over a billion dollars, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom performed better than other DC films released after the announcement that the DC Extended Universe was ending. However, Momoa’s dream role was actually Lobo. He’s thrilled to be playing him, saying it was a surreal experience and that his first scene was particularly challenging and intense. He’s confident no other actor could have nailed it like he did and is eager to share more about the demanding work he put into it.
It remains to be seen if Jason Momoa will be the best part of the upcoming Supergirl series. Meanwhile, The Wrecking Crew is now available on Prime Video, and early reviews suggest it’s a lot of fun.
