2026 looks like a great year for fans of long-awaited projects! We’re already seeing Masters of the Universe nearing completion, and now another exciting film is almost here. Chad Stahelski’s reboot of Highlander, starring Henry Cavill, has just released its first images, and they look amazing.
Henry Cavill posted the first images from the upcoming Highlander reboot on Facebook, giving fans a complete look at his portrayal of Connor MacLeod – a role originally played by Christopher Lambert. His trench coat and hairstyle closely resemble the iconic look, and one photo highlights his character’s sword. The scenery and the initial shot are beautiful, and these glimpses have us eagerly anticipating the film’s trailer and what the movie will offer.

The Highlander Reboot Has Had A Long Journey (But It’s Almost Here)

I’ve been following the Highlander reboot news for ages, and it’s been a long time coming! It’s exciting to think that both Dave Bautista and Henry Cavill have been attached to this project for years. I remember when Dave Bautista signed on to play Kugan, the villain from the original, about ten years ago. Then, in 2021, Henry Cavill came on board as Connor MacLeod, but it took until last year for them to actually start filming. I’m really hoping it finally comes together!
The delay happened because the movie switched to a new studio. Originally, it was with Lionsgate, but then moved to United Artists, which is part of Amazon MGM Studios. This deal wasn’t just for the new movie; it also included the rights to everything else in the Highlander series – all four previous films and the three TV shows.
Last year, an injury to Henry Cavill temporarily paused filming. Fortunately, he fully recovered, and after about ten years, fans will finally be able to see a new Highlander movie in theaters. If successful, this could become another big franchise for Amazon MGM Studios, which already has hits like Lord of the Rings, Fallout, The Boys, Invincible, and the upcoming Tomb Raider series.
Highlander currently has no release date.
