The popular Apple TV+ show, Shrinking, is returning for a third season with both familiar faces and some exciting new guest stars. After successful first two seasons, the creators – Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Jason Segel – are continuing the show’s winning streak. The talented cast is, as always, a major reason for the series’ humor and heartwarming stories, with each actor bringing a unique energy to their role.
As the third season of Shrinking begins, Jimmy, Paul, Alice, Gaby, and the other characters are all trying to move on with their lives. While season 2 showed significant growth for each of them, season 3 promises new obstacles and successes. You can expect to see the returning cast – Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, and others – but the addition of some fantastic guest stars is what makes the new season particularly exciting.

Jason Segel, originally from Santa Monica, California, first gained recognition in 1999 for his role as Nick Andopolis on the TV show Freaks and Geeks. He continued to act in smaller projects before becoming well-known as Marshall Eriksen in the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Segel has also starred in several successful films, including Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and I Love You, Man.

Harrison Ford As Paul Rhoades
Date of Birth: July 13, 1942
Apple TV
- Active Since: 1966
I’ve been a Harrison Ford fan forever! It’s amazing to think he got his start with a small role in American Graffiti back in 1973. That film really launched his career and led to a fantastic partnership with George Lucas – obviously, Star Wars being the biggest result of that! He’s been in so many great movies, but for me, he’ll always be Indiana Jones, and I also love him in Blade Runner, Air Force One, and The Fugitive. He’s just a legend!
| Notable Movie & TV Roles | |
|---|---|
| Movie/TV Show | Role |
| American Graffiti | Boba Falfa |
| Star Wars | Han Solo |
| Raiders of the Lost Ark | Indiana Jones |
| Blade Runner | Rick Deckard |
| The Fugitive | Dr. Richard Kimble |
In the show Shrinking, Jason Segel plays Paul Rhoades, a somewhat grumpy therapist who mentors the main character, Jimmy. The first season revealed that Segel’s character has Parkinson’s Disease, and in the second season, Paul starts to realize his medication isn’t working as well anymore.
Jessica Williams As Gabrielle “Gaby” Channing
Date of Birth: July 31, 1989
Image via Apple TV+
- Active Since: 11006
Jessica Williams, originally from Los Angeles, started her career in Hollywood as a correspondent on The Daily Show, becoming the youngest person ever to hold that position at just 22 years old. She’s also been in films like People Places Things, The Incredible Jessica James, and the Fantastic Beasts series.

Williams plays Dr. Gaby Channing, a therapist who works with Paul. Gaby is known for being funny and full of energy, and she’s become close friends with Jimmy and cares for his daughter, Alice. While she didn’t start out as close to Paul as Jimmy was, they’ve since grown to have a father-daughter type of bond.
Christa Miller As Liz
Date of Birth: May 28, 1964
Image via Apple TV+
- Active Since: 1985
Christa Miller started her career as a model before becoming an actress, mostly appearing in comedy shows. She had early roles in popular sitcoms like Kate & Allie, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Seinfeld, and The Drew Carey Show. Today, she’s most recognized for her work on Scrubs and Cougar Town.
| Notable Movie & TV Roles | |
|---|---|
| Movie/TV Show | Role |
| The Drew Carey Show | Kate O’Brien |

| Cougar Town | Ellie Torres |
In the show Shrinking, Miller plays Liz, a neighbor who stepped in to help raise Alice after Tia passed away. Liz is naturally maternal and enjoys caring for others, often taking charge of their lives. While incredibly supportive, she can also be pushy and intrusive, and she likes to be in control of everything.
Luke Tennie As Sean
Date of Birth: November 21, 1994

- Active Since: 2016
Actor Luke Tennie, originally from Chicago, started gaining recognition with his role in the TV series Deadly Class. He soon followed that up with a part in the film Safety, and has since appeared in several other shows, including On the Verge, Players, CSI: Vegas, and Abbott Elementary.

Tennie plays Sean on the show Shrinking. Sean was first introduced as Jimmy’s patient in season one, but he’s since become like family, moving in with the Lairds and forming close bonds with everyone. By the end of season two, Sean has made significant progress and has even reconciled with his father.
Lukita Maxwell As Alice
Date of Birth: October 27, 2001
- Active Since: 2016
Lukita Maxwell, who was born in Indonesia and grew up between Bali and St. George, Utah, first gained recognition for her role in the TV series Generation. She’s continued to build her career with appearances in Shrinking and the 2024 horror movie Afraid.
| Notable Movie & TV Roles | |
|---|---|
| Movie/TV Show | Role |
| Speechless | Jillian |
| Generation | Delilah |
| Afraid | Iris Pike |
I’m really invested in the relationship between Jimmy and his daughter, Alice, on Shrinking. At the beginning of the show, Alice was understandably upset with her dad – he kind of withdrew after Tia’s death and she had to step up and take care of things. It’s been great to watch them work through that and start to heal. Now, heading into season 3, Alice is getting ready to graduate high school, which adds another layer to their dynamic, and I’m excited to see how it all plays out.
