Most fans consider Pedro Pascal to be the central figure in The Mandalorian, playing the title character, Din Djarin. However, he wasn’t the only one who portrayed the Mandalorian! In fact, three other performers helped bring the character to life, and two of them will also appear in the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is expected to be a major success when it releases on May 22nd. Notably, during much of Season 3, Pascal primarily provided the character’s voice rather than physically wearing the iconic beskar armor.
Besides seeing Pascal’s reaction when Din Djarin takes off his helmet, who else is actually wearing a suit of armor? Let’s break down who’s wearing what.
Barry Lowin

While the next two actors famously wore the Mandalorian armor, Barry Lowin was also involved. However, he won’t be appearing as the character in Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Lowin served as a body double for Din Djarin in three episodes of The Mandalorian‘s first season and throughout its entire second season. He later appeared in Season 3, but in different roles as a Klatooinian Pirate Pilot and a Quarren Navigator. Beyond The Mandalorian, Lowin played Garfalaquox in three episodes of The Book of Boba Fett and a Home One Comms Officer in one episode of Ahsoka.
Brendan Wayne

Brendan Wayne, who is John Wayne’s grandson, was the actor inside the Mandalorian suit for all three seasons of the show. He was initially credited as Pedro Pascal’s stunt double in seasons one and two, but in season three, his credit changed to actually playing the Mandalorian – although both roles involved performing as the character in the suit. He also appeared as a Mandalorian warrior in the Season 1 finale, “Redemption.”
Wayne had to reduce his involvement in Season 2 due to health problems, with Lowin and Pascal filling in as the suit performer. However, he remained a key part of the role, performing in most of his scenes in The Book of Boba Fett and continuing to be heavily involved in Season 3. Wayne will also be returning for Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Lateef Crowder

Brendan Wayne helped create Din Djarin’s relaxed and confident style. But for the more physically demanding scenes – the intense stunts and fighting – that was Lateef Crowder under the mask. While both were credited as Pedro Pascal’s stunt doubles in the first two seasons, Crowder was officially credited as playing the Mandalorian in Season 3.
Crowder worked on the entire original series and also contributed to The Book of Boba Fett. He’s now responsible for choreographing the action scenes in Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Pedro Pascal

As we touched on earlier, Pascal’s voice acting is a key part of what makes the character work – it perfectly balances kindness with a sense of someone who’s been through a lot. While he was always in the suit during episodes where Din Djarin’s helmet comes off, Pascal actually wore it for many other scenes as well.
Pascal didn’t wear the suit in every episode of the first season, but he was often present on set. While it’s unclear exactly which episodes he wore it, we know he shared suit duties with others in the first four episodes, as well as Episodes 7 and 8 of Season 2. By Season 3, his role had largely become providing the voice for the character.
