Paul Dano is grateful for a little bit of sunshine.
About two months after Quentin Tarantino publicly criticized him, Paul attended the Sundance Film Festival’s celebration of the 20th anniversary of Little Miss Sunshine with his co-star Toni Collette. They both shared their reactions to Tarantino’s comments.
Toni questioned whether the situation was actually happening, telling Variety on January 28th, “Forget that guy! He must have been under the influence… it just didn’t make any sense. Why would anyone do that?”
Paul then reacted to the support he received from Toni, as well as stars from across Hollywood.
“That was wonderful,” she said, who is 41 years old. “I really appreciated everyone supporting me – it meant I didn’t have to face it alone.”
After Quentin criticized Paul’s acting in the 2007 film There Will Be Blood on the December 2nd episode of The Bret Easton Ellis podcast – calling it a significant weakness – several celebrities, including Reese Witherspoon and Ben Stiller, publicly defended Paul, according to Deadline.
Actress Reese Witherspoon praised Paul Dano, calling him a remarkably talented and versatile actor. She shared the compliment on Threads on December 6th, adding that he’s also “a gentleman.” Witherspoon and Dano previously worked together on the 2014 film Inherent Vice, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
Ben, the director of the 2018 series Escape at Dannemora featuring Paul, Benicio Del Toro, and Patricia Arquette, simply praised Paul Dano on X (formerly Twitter) on December 4th, calling him “f-ing brilliant.”
I was so interested to see George Clooney respond to Quentin Tarantino’s recent remarks! He did it in a really lovely way while accepting his Best Actor award at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards earlier this month – he just beautifully emphasized how much he values actors and the work they do.

The actor, who plays Jay Kelly, mentioned he’d be thrilled to work with Paul Dano, Owen Wilson, and Matthew Lillard, saying he’d be “honored” to share a project with any of them.
George urged Hollywood to be more empathetic, stating, “In a world that’s already harsh, we shouldn’t be making things worse.”
Paul finally responded to Quentin’s remarks at the Sundance Film Festival, but he wasn’t the only celebrity there. Here’s a look at some other stars who attended.
