It’s a pivotal weekend for Tekken 8, as the Tekken World Tour 2025 Global Finals get underway.
The world’s top players are about to begin competing in a major tournament in Malmö, Sweden, with the first matches starting in around 30 minutes. The tournament will continue over the next several days, and the winner will receive the tour’s largest prize.
The final round of the Top 20 tournament is happening on February 1st, and that’s where we’ll finally see what’s next for Tekken 8.
Bandai Namco, through their official Tekken social media channels, has indicated that a lot more information will be revealed before the final eight players compete.
Even with the excitement of the tournament finals, Tekken 8 is still sparking debate among players about how it plays and whether all the characters are equally fair.
Many players feel the game started to go downhill with its Season 2 update from last April. This update emphasized gameplay features that were already causing disagreement among the player base.
I know the developers had to tweak a few things, but they were really careful not to mess with the competition while the World Tour was happening. They didn’t want to make any big changes that would feel unfair, so it was more about refining what was already there.
Everyone is expecting the announcement at the championship event to give us a preview of what’s coming in Season 3, and it’s almost certain we’ll also see a trailer introducing a new character.

- Thursday 29th January: Regional Leaderboard Group Stage
- Friday 30th January: Global Leaderboard Group Stage
- Saturday 31st January: Last Chance Qualifier
- Sunday 1st February: Final Tournament (Top 20) — 5pm CET / 4pm GMT / 8am PST / 11am EST
