Two Sega GameCube Games Now Available for Free

Two classic Sega games originally released on the Nintendo GameCube are now available to play for free. While they’ve been updated slightly, changing the original experience a bit, these titles remain among Sega’s best from the early 2000s and still offer a challenge for players today.

The classic Sega games Super Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball 2 from 2001 and 2002 are now available to play online for free. A developer named Twilight has successfully brought the games to a website, and early players say they run surprisingly well. While the character models are missing, which might lessen the nostalgic feel for some, it’s still a great way to experience the games. A mobile version is in development, but it’s not fully working yet.

I’ve made Super Monkey Ball playable online! You can find a link to it in the comments below. Or, if you prefer, just type the code shown in the video to access it – no need to wait for instructions from me.

Sega Classics Sega Continues to Ignore

It’s difficult to play the original versions of these games now. While Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania includes content from both titles, it’s a remake where the games have been altered. Unfortunately, these remade versions don’t quite capture the same feeling or quality as the originals.

Whether Sega will pursue this project is still unknown, but it’s likely they will, considering the recent release of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. While some companies don’t strongly defend their intellectual property, Japanese game developers usually do, and Sega is typically very protective of its games.

So, as of right now, Sega hasn’t said anything official about this new project. The developer has mentioned they’re still working on some updates after launch, which is good to hear! I’ve been hoping they’d add some characters that are currently missing, but honestly, it’s just a guess on my part. The discussion I saw didn’t say anything about that either way.
