Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Remake – Ubisoft Responds to Alleged Figurine With a Joke

A potential new figurine of Edward Kenway from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag recently appeared on Vinted, prompting a response from Ubisoft. While not confirming or denying anything directly, the company posted a meme on their Assassin’s Creed Twitter account referencing the beginning of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, implying they’re bracing for another wave of speculation and leaks. The image shows the character CJ saying, “Ah, s, here we go again.”

The statement is clearly meant as a joke and doesn’t offer much real information. However, the company’s refusal to deny the rumors suggests they might be intentionally fueling the buzz around the likely announcement of the Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake.

A Twitter user named j0nathan first noticed a brand new Edward Kenway figurine being sold on Vinted. They shared a post about it, noting that the seller claimed the figurine would be released this year. Considering a remake of Black Flag was expected to launch in under two months, the user wondered if this might be an official collectible from the game.

Ubisoft responded to a post from an Assassin’s Creed fan account, Zephryss. Zephryss shared photos of a new Edward Kenway figurine and claimed it might be related to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake, noting a seller on Vinted is listing it with a release date this year.

As we mentioned earlier this week, the photos didn’t give us any clues about who created the collectible. But based on discussions from last year, Play Arts, a company that makes licensed products, could be connected to it.

During a recent Play Arts livestream, the hosts suggested that a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag could be happening. They didn’t share much information, but hinted that there’s activity surrounding the character Edward.

During a live stream, a host mentioned that there’s news regarding Edward Kenway, a character from Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, after a viewer asked about new figures related to the game. Another host followed up, asking if an official announcement had been made.

“I think you’re right, I definitely saw something about that online,” the first host said. They added that there would likely be a development regarding Edward, and their 1/8th scale PVC statue would be updated to reflect it.

A remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, reportedly called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, was initially expected to launch on March 19th. However, it now appears the release has been delayed until next year. The reason for the delay isn’t clear, but one source suggests the developers may just need more time to refine the game.

Recent reuploads of music from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag to the official Ubisoft Music YouTube channel have sparked more rumors. However, given Ubisoft’s recent company changes, the remake may have been delayed as a result.
