The popular Capcom retro collection, The Disney Afternoon Collection, is adding two new games, but they will only be available on Nintendo consoles.
I’m so excited! Atari is publishing this game and it’s coming to both the Switch and the new Switch 2 next month! It’s great news for fans like me who can play on either system.
But as part of the process, it’s adding two new titles: Goof Troop and Bonkers.
We checked with the publisher, and unfortunately, they don’t intend to include these titles in the current PS4 version. There are also no plans to release an updated version for PS5.
It’s especially surprising because the 1994 game Goof Troop was created by Shinji Mikami – the same person who later directed Resident Evil. In fact, it’s a bit of an overlooked treasure on the Super Nintendo, featuring clever puzzles and bright, detailed graphics.
Like Bonkers, this game came out in 1994, but it’s a classic side-scrolling platformer inspired by the cartoon it’s named after.
We don’t currently have plans to release these games on PlayStation, and we understand it’s tricky with the recent change in who publishes them. However, we’re hopeful that Capcom, Disney, and Atari can work something out for the future.
