Rumors suggest Sony is working on a new version of the PS Portal, its streaming device, and it’s expected to feature an improved OLED screen.
According to reports shared by KeplerL2, Sony is planning to release an upgraded PS Portal with an OLED screen later this year. It’s currently unclear if any other improvements will be made to the device beyond the new screen.
If these claims are accurate, it will add to the success of the original device, which has already been very popular for Sony. The company has consistently stated the device performed better than anticipated, and recent data from the US suggests that 7% of PlayStation 5 owners also have a PS Portal.
Honestly, a refreshed version of the current console would be perfect to tide me over until the PS6 handheld everyone’s talking about finally comes out. The best part is, with that recent firmware update and the Power Saver mode, it’s supposed to actually be able to play PS5 games on the handheld, which is a huge win!
The PS Portal now lets you stream any game in your PlayStation Plus Premium library, not just those you have downloaded on your console. Combined with the existing Remote Play feature, this means you can play a wider range of games on the go. Plus, the Portal’s OLED screen promises to make your PS5 and PS4 games look even better while you’re away from your TV.
