RGG Studio is releasing a PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 update on the same day as Yakuza Kiwami 3’s launch to address the visual issues and bugs that have been widely shared online recently.
The game developer announced on social media that update 1.11, launching on February 12, 2026, will fix the lighting problems and other quality issues players have been experiencing.
A lighting issue in the new PS5 and PS4 demo has become a popular topic online, with players noticing a difference in how a certain street appears compared to the original PS3 game. The images below show the original PS3 version on the left and Yakuza Kiwami 3 on the right.
The update will fix visual and lighting problems near the Kubochi River in Downtown Ryukyu, an issue many players have reported.
So, the devs have said that what I saw in the demo wasn’t quite what the final game will look like – they’re promising a big jump in graphics! I’m holding them to that, but I’ll really be able to judge when the full game finally drops on launch day.
The Steam demo for the game received “mostly negative” reviews due to visual problems and the change in actors for the character Goh Hamazaki, who is now played by Teruyuki Kagawa.
In 2022, actor Kagawa confessed to inappropriate sexual behavior after being accused of sexual harassment in 2019. Photos from one of the incidents became public, leading fans to start a #REMOVEKAGAWA campaign online, calling for him to be replaced. However, SEGA, the company he worked with, has never addressed these allegations or the fan campaign.
