It looks like the reign of Stranger Things is over! A new show aimed at kids has become Netflix’s most popular series of 2025, surpassing the sci-fi hit and leaving fans to say goodbye to Hawkins.
After nearly ten years, Stranger Things ended with its fifth season last year. Despite huge viewership numbers, it wasn’t the most-watched show of the year. The finale proved somewhat controversial, with many fans disappointed in how the story wrapped up for the characters they loved, though millions still watched it.
Nielsen recently released streaming data from the ARTEY Awards, revealing that Bluey was the most-watched series of 2025. The Australian children’s show logged 45.2 billion minutes viewed on Disney+. Despite its short, eight-minute episodes, Bluey consistently performs well on the platform and has been streamed repeatedly by audiences around the globe. Notably, Stranger Things did not appear among the top streamed shows.
Bluey is a show about the Heeler family – Bluey, Bingo, Bandit, and Chilli – and their everyday adventures. While it’s aimed at kids, Bluey is actually enjoyable for the whole family, with moments that parents can really connect with. There are currently 154 episodes, and even a movie is planned for release on August 6, 2027.
Last year, Stranger Things was close behind in viewership, totaling 40 billion minutes watched across 41 episodes and landing at number three on Nielsen’s list. Grey’s Anatomy came in second, with an impressive 40.9 billion minutes streamed on Netflix and Hulu over its 455 episodes.
- Bluey – 45.2 billion minutes on Disney+

- Law & Order: SVU – 26.8 billion minutes on Hulu/Peacock

Despite not being Netflix’s biggest hit ever, Stranger Things Season 5 performed very well. It currently ranks as the sixth most-watched show globally on Netflix with 115 million views and could potentially exceed the viewership of its previous season, which reached 140.7 million minutes viewed.
