With the upcoming release of Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties, Masayoshi Yokoyama, head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, recently spoke about the series in a Nintendo video. He explained that the games are intentionally designed to be very accessible and relatively easy for players to finish.
He wasn’t joking when he said you could likely beat the game even while playing with the controller upside down and mashing buttons – it wouldn’t be good gameplay, but you’d still be able to do some interesting things. Yokoyama also mentioned that with Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties, the team is releasing everything they currently have available. He added that they might release even more content in the future, depending on what fans want.
There’s a lot of content to explore in the Like a Dragon series, including recent games like Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Last year, Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2, along with Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, were released on the Switch, so it’s likely that Yakuza 4 through 6 will be available in the future.
It doesn’t seem likely that Yakuza 3 Remastered will be sold separately much longer, and that’s probably why it’s now only available as part of the Yakuza Remastered Collection. This move could also encourage players to buy the upcoming remake, which releases on February 12th for Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. You can find more details about the remake here, or try the free demo, although early reactions from fans haven’t been very positive.
