A new image from Ryan Phillippe’s upcoming climbing thriller, Reach, has been released, giving fans a thrilling preview before the European Film Market. The photo shows Phillippe in a dangerous situation, struggling to maintain his balance on a steep, rocky cliff. It brings to mind the exciting stunts seen in the 1993 film Cliffhanger, and suggests Reach could deliver a similarly thrilling experience for viewers.
As reported by Variety, filming for Reach has finished in Thailand, and the sales agency Capture has quickly begun promoting it to distributors. The film has already been sold internationally, and Capture plans to showcase footage at the European Film Market in Berlin next month (February 12–18). This annual event allows film industry professionals to buy, sell, and fund projects, and this year also features new films starring Nicolas Cage and Ana de Armas.
Ryan Phillippe is known for his varied acting career, starting with popular teen films like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Cruel Intentions in the 90s, and continuing with critically praised roles in films such as Crash and Flags of Our Fathers. While he’s given many strong, lesser-known performances, his new film, Reach, promises to be a standout. He plays Zack, a daring climber, who finds himself in a terrifying situation: stranded on a mountain with only a rope connecting him to his friend. The film centers around the agonizing choice he faces – cut the rope to save himself, or risk falling to his death with his friend.

Stories about people struggling to survive have always been a hit with audiences, and they’re especially popular right now. The next year looks promising for the genre, with a variety of thrilling movies coming out – from tales of being stranded to intense chases. Sam Raimi’s Send Help, currently in theaters, is already getting great reviews and could be a big success. Other upcoming films include the action-packed thriller Apex on Netflix, the shark-attack horror Deep Water, and the dramatic post-apocalyptic story The Dog Stars.
