The Teen Titans have long been a fan-favorite team within the DC Universe. DC first explored the idea of young superheroes through sidekicks, and the Titans gave these characters a chance to grow and deal with issues that more experienced heroes didn’t face. The team was consistently popular, with each new iteration introducing a fresh group of young heroes eager to prove themselves. Despite the Titans franchise remaining strong, we haven’t seen the core ‘Teen Titans’ team operate together since the disbanding of Titans Academy, and even before that, the group was struggling with internal problems.
Everything really shifted when this series tied into DC’s big summer event, DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight Special. That’s where we met this awesome new team, and honestly, I think they could be the next Teen Titans! They’ve had a bit of a rough beginning – that always seems to happen with these groups – but this version feels really special. They just need a real opportunity to prove themselves, and I truly believe they could become huge.
New Teens, New Titans

As a huge comic book fan, I was really hooked by this storyline! It started with Jon Kent – the new Superman – being told to look after a group of younger heroes – Fairplay, Quiz Kid, Cheshire Cat, and the Boom – while all the main heroes dealt with Earth turning into, well, Apocalypse! Of course, those teens weren’t about to just sit things out, so they snuck off. Jon realized how out of their depth they were, and immediately thought of Cassandra Cain – the stealthiest detective he knew – to track them down. Thankfully, she found their trail, and Jon and Cassandra followed them right back to Earth. It’s a great setup – I can’t wait to see what happens next!
On the scorched planet, the young heroes were quickly confronted by Granny Goodness and her brainwashed Furies, including Stargirl, Yara Flor, and Irey West. Fairplay’s past trauma from a previous kidnapping by Granny resurfaced, leading to the team’s capture. Granny was hunting for a particular young hero whose powers could fuel a world-domination device. While searching for Fairplay, Superman and Batgirl realized they shared similar experiences of lost childhoods, which motivated him to overcome his fear and fight back.
Despite rescuing their friends, the situation still looked grim as Granny’s machine drained their determination. Just when things seemed lost, the hero Granny had been waiting for finally appeared. Static, protected from the machine’s mind control by his abilities, destroyed it. Standing together, the heroes pushed Granny back, looking like a new version of the Teen Titans.
Mentors and Students Who Both Have to Learn

This new version of the Teen Titans could be really compelling because it blends well-known heroes with fresh faces. While characters like Batgirl and Superman are already established, they’d also have a chance to mentor the younger team members. Given their own difficult upbringings, helping these teens learn to fight for themselves and others would be a powerful central theme. This mix of experienced heroes and newcomers is a unique approach for the team, combining the best parts of Titans Academy with the classic Teen Titans style – and that’s a recipe for plenty of drama and exciting stories.
This team would be a great opportunity to showcase lesser-known heroes. While characters like Batgirl and Jon already have a following, a consistent book would help develop them further. Heroes like Yara Flor, Stargirl, and Static are incredibly talented but haven’t gotten the recognition they deserve. Being part of the Teen Titans could elevate them to superstar status, allowing them to define their identities and unique qualities – something the team has successfully done for many heroes over the years.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a great Teen Titans team, and this new version feels like a perfect way to bring them back. It honors what made the Titans special while also forging its own identity. It’s time for the Teen Titans to make a comeback and for a new generation of heroes to prove themselves.
