35 Years On, Cult Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Returning to Theaters (With a Major Upgrade)

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are still incredibly popular, and it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon. Now, fans have a great reason to revisit some classic moments – the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is returning to theaters after 35 years, and it’s been remastered for the big screen!

To celebrate its 35th anniversary, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze is returning to movie theaters for one week, from March 13th to March 19th. Fathom Entertainment, Saga Arts, and Warner Bros. Pictures announced the re-release (according to Variety), and you can check out the trailer for more details.

Now’s your chance to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze if you missed it before! And even if you’ve already seen it, this restored version looks better than ever. It’s been updated to 4K and will be shown on the big screen with amazing picture quality.

Before the main presentation, attendees will enjoy special bonus content, including a brand-new featurette called The Ninja Turtles: Revolutions. This featurette stars Kevin Eastman, co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and offers a look at his creative process, as well as his insights into the Turtles’ history, story, and lasting impact.

Last year, the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie returned to cinemas for a limited run, and proved so popular it played for four weeks instead of the originally planned two days. It earned nearly $3.7 million during that time, and those behind the re-release of Secret of the Ooze are hoping for similar success.

Following up on the first movie, Secret of the Ooze kept the excitement going and delivered some truly unforgettable scenes. It introduced Tokka and Rahzar, featured a huge, powerful Super Shredder, and included a memorable battle with a playful game of catch involving the ooze. Of course, it also had plenty of Michelangelo’s signature personality, and the now-famous Vanilla Ice concert with the Turtles!
