An Iconic Power Ranger Makes Prime Debut (But With Major Changes)

Power Rangers Prime has been updating the Power Rangers story with a new team of heroes and significant changes to classic villains like Rita Repulsa, as well as the relationship between Earth and Eltar. As the series nears its end, it’s delivering a major surprise: a well-known Power Ranger from the past. However, this returning Ranger isn’t quite as fans remember them – they’ve undergone some big transformations.

In the world of Power Rangers Prime, the Eltarians control Earth, but they’re afraid of one thing: the Legion Ravager. When the Legion Ravager arrives on Earth, they contact Rita Repulsa, sending the Gold Ranger Trey of Triforia as their representative. This new Gold Ranger has a modern look, but he’s actually working for the Legion Ravager, and no one knows how to handle that surprising alliance.

Who Is Power Rangers’ Iconic Gold Ranger (And What On Earth Is He Doing)

Trey of Triforia first appeared in Power Rangers Zeo, and he’s unique because he’s actually three people combined into one Ranger. These three parts – Courage, Wisdom, and Heart – were each played by a different actor when he wasn’t morphed on screen. Although Trey was the very first Gold Ranger, Jason Scott is more famous for the role, as he took over the powers when Trey had to step down for a while.

This Gold Ranger is definitely Trey, but instead of fighting alongside the other Rangers against King Mondo, he’s now working with The Legion Ravager – a powerful being that destroys planets to absorb Morphin energy. Given how terrifying The Legion Ravager is to the Eltarians, it’s a huge surprise to see Trey allied with a creature that seems to be hunting Rangers and the very power source that fuels them.

The suit’s design is fantastic, clearly inspired by the original Zeo version, but with a fresh, updated style. It will be interesting to see if Trey’s personality traits from the show are included, and his interactions with Rita suggest there’s more to the story than we’ve been told. We’re definitely curious to see how things unfold.
