The latest season of Slow Horses concluded with a powerful and emotional scene for Gary Oldman’s character, Jackson Lamb, offering viewers a deeper look into his backstory.
Earlier in the season, Lamb shared a story about a secret agent who endured terrible torture with his pregnant partner, all for information that turned out to be useless. The season finale then revealed that Lamb himself was the agent in the story.
Considering this, and the clues about Lamb’s history in earlier seasons, it’s clear there are still mysteries surrounding this character – and Roddy Ho star Christopher Chung has confirmed that’s intentional.
I was at the TopMob Covers Party 2026, and I got a chance to ask Chung about Oldman’s character in season 6. I was really curious to hear what he had to say about what’s coming up!
I’m so excited for season 7! I know it’s been a while since the last one, but the creator, Chung, hinted at what makes the show so special. He said they really dig deeper into each character every season, revealing new layers and details. As a fan, I love learning more about them with each passing season, and it sounds like we’re in for another round of discoveries!
We’re revealing Gary’s character gradually, bit by bit, because there’s a lot more to his story that we want to share and keep audiences interested.
So, I was reading an interview with the showrunner, and apparently Roddy’s going to be a lot more focused on spirituality this season – season six, that is. Honestly, I’m really intrigued to see where they take that storyline. It sounds like it could be a fascinating new direction for the character!
The actor hinted that the events of season 5’s finale – where Diana Taverner achieved her long-sought position as first desk – will have significant consequences for the upcoming season.

He explained that with Taverner now in a leading role, she’s achieved all her goals after a lot of planning and effort.
It will be fascinating to watch how having complete control changes her. Now that she’s in charge, the big question is: where will she take things? It’s a great moment to leave the audience wondering what happens next.
