My Hero Academia Returns For Shonen Crossover

The anime series My Hero Academia finished its run last year with an episode showing Deku and his fellow heroes working as adults. Although a special episode called “More” will air later this year, the creator, Kohei Horikoshi, doesn’t intend to create another series focusing on the students at UA Academy. However, fans can still enjoy more of Izuku Midoriya thanks to the second season of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, which offers a new take on the young hero inspired by All Might, brought to life by another popular creator.

Long before anime series like My Hero Academia gained widespread popularity, Detective Conan (known as Case Closed in some regions) was a staple in Japanese manga, starting in 1994. While it hasn’t reached the same level of fame in North America as some other anime, Case Closed remains incredibly popular in Japan, and its creator, Gosho Aoyama, is still working on the manga. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Case Closed and the 10th anniversary of My Hero Academia, Aoyama created special artwork featuring characters from both series. A celebratory video has also been released, featuring voice actors Takayama Minami (Conan) and Yamashita Daiki (Deku).

Detective Conan x My Hero Academia

Although the My Hero Academia anime finished airing in 2025, Case Closed is still going strong. Similar to One Piece, which started in the 1990s, Case Closed has over a thousand episodes. However, unlike One Piece’s protagonist Luffy, it hasn’t been announced that Conan’s story is nearing its end. While Conan isn’t as widely popular in Western countries as Luffy, that could change. More episodes of the series are becoming available on streaming platforms, potentially leading to a boost in its popularity.

There are currently no plans for an official anime crossover featuring Izuku from My Hero Academia and Conan from Detective Conan. While shonen anime universes have teamed up before – like in the video game Jump Force – it’s unlikely Conan would join a fighting game. Detective Conan typically focuses on mystery-solving rather than combat, with Conan using his intelligence to overcome challenges. However, the franchise has a history with video games, though it’s been over ten years since its last digital release.
