A recent episode of The Simpsons was unexpectedly changed before being released on Disney+, and a character who hadn’t been seen in years was removed. The show is currently in its 37th season and will finish with a few more episodes on Fox this winter. This season has featured some significant developments for established characters, including the return of some familiar faces who had been absent for a while.
Last year, after many years of being engaged, Moe’s fiancé Maya reappeared on The Simpsons in Season 37, explaining her long absence. However, fans noticed something strange: the Spanish dub of the episode, available on Disney+ internationally, completely cut out Maya’s return. It’s as if her appearance never happened in that version of the show, as pointed out by a user on X (@SimpsonDoblaje).
Disney+ Edits The Simpsons and Removes Missing Character’s Return
Disney+ has released episode 37×04 of The Simpsons, but the version they published cuts off the ending. In the original broadcast, Moe reunites with Maya, but the Disney+ version ends before that happens.

A recent viral tweet claims that the Spanish dub of a Simpsons episode, specifically Season 37’s “Men Behaving Manly,” cuts off the last few seconds of a scene. This scene follows a storyline where Moe explains he was sent to a camp—at the request of his wives—to work on himself. He also mentions he’s still engaged to Maya, years after their relationship was explored in the Season 33 episode “The Wayz We Were,” but needs to live separately due to cultural differences.
Moe shared that he and Maya are still together, but a tradition from his Eastern European background requires them to avoid contact for five years. The episode actually ended with Maya returning and sharing a hug with Moe, though his grandmother intervened, explaining they still had four and a half years of separation ahead. However, this entire scene was removed from the international version of the episode, likely because the joke didn’t resonate with audiences outside of its original context.
What Does This Mean for Moe and Maya?

Moe and Maya finally getting together was a major highlight of The Simpsons’ 37th season. For years, fans have been curious about their relationship, and the show playfully hinted it would take a while for Moe to settle down. This reunion relieved fans who feared it might be another storyline the show would abandon, like the fate of Selma’s child.
The scene featuring Maya was likely cut from the international version of The Simpsons because the visual design or the joke didn’t translate well into other languages. Removing it was probably the simplest way to avoid any confusion or offense. This does make us wonder how the show will handle Maya’s character going forward.
